"The OPUS V restaurant is established as the best fine dining address in Mannheim. Therefore, it was a must for me, after a memorable first visit shortly after the opening in late to come again with a business friend to this place of gourmet...cuisine. The welcome at the reception was courteous and the attentive and likeable service team was very eager to fulfill all our culinary wishes, in relaxed stylish and well-being atmosphere over the roofs of Mannheim. As Aperitif was a cool and well-mixed Negroni the ideal cocktail to sensibilise the taste buds for the forthcoming flavor experience. We decided to enjoy the eight-course menu together with recommended wine pairing. The nice decorated and savory amuse bouche surprises have been a wonderful taste experience and whet our appetite for more. All served courses were of excellent quality, extremely savory with filigree Asian unami notes. The used ingredients harmonized in a perfect manner and caused an explosion of flavors with best mouthfeel. Among other have been the culinary highlight the Hamchi Japanese amberjack with cabbage turnip, shiso, the Langoustine with caviar, capuchins, the Halibut with parsley root, soja, the Veal with, bulbus plants, mustard, the Brie cheese with truffle, bread. The Butter milk with blood orange, coffee together with the cheese selection of Affineur Waltmann rounded off this fantastic delicacy firework and unfortunately, I had no more space for other sweet desserts. At the first glance, the offered wine pairing selection seemed a bit unusual, but the served elegant vintages correspond in a superb way with the various tasty dishes. The wines were presented by a young sommelier with profound knowledge in an excellent manner and additionally provided with a lot of interesting background information. Particularly preeminent were the finely beaded Cava Brut Nature (Bruant Alta Altella), the Chenin Blanc (Domaine Huet), the Chardonnay Te Ahu (Terravin), the Volnay Cru (Domaine Albert Bichot) and the Bukkaram Sole D’Agosto (Marco de Bartoli). After this opulent meal, an espresso doppio accompanied by an unbelievable velvety, cask aged years old Nonino Grappa was a perfect completion of a memorable meal. To visit OPUS V is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy a first-class dinner, extraordinary composed by Chef Tristan Brandt with his kitchen brigade and skillful presented by the inspired service team."

Mannheim, known for its grid layout and Baroque palace, offers hearty German cuisine. Try "Sauerbraten" (pot roast) and "Spätzle" (noodles) for a true local flavor.
