"My friend usually calls ahead to place an order for pickup at this restaurant, but this time he was told to use the app or website instead. He found this unusual, but complied. We were then notified that our order was ready, so we went to pick it up, which wasn't far from our location. However, we still had to wait for 10 minutes. While waiting, I observed the waitress speaking to the staff in a disrespectful manner, and noticed that the staff seemed unhappy. When we finally got our food and opened the pizza box, my pizza was cold, not even lukewarm – it was completely cold. In contrast, my friend's lasagna was piping hot. It was clear that they had mixed up the timings and my pizza had been left sitting there to get cold. I would have been better off making a simple DIY pizza at home – warming up a tortilla, adding some sauce and herbs. I paid £16.40 for a cold and flavorless pizza that wasn't even topped correctly – I received vegan chicken instead of vegan mince."

The staff was excellent and the food was both delicious and served promptly. We are thankful for their role in making our event a success.

Good food and great service from Sapphire. Try the Sloppy Giuseppe on a Romana base if you want something spicy with meat. All needing serving within a shortish interval as we were on a deadline for the theatre, but Saphire seemed to understand!

A large group of x40+ of us descended on Pizza Express Northampton at the weekend for Saturday lunch and the whole team was superb. Food and drinks served so quickly and efficiently. The back room was perfect for us as a large group and the food delicious. Thank you so much. Highly recommend.

We had a very enjoyable pre- cinema meal. Our server was very helpful in making sure our timings worked. Our meal was excellent. Covid safety good, except that I would prefer the servery counter to be higher, as it is currently at waist level as diners and staff pass by, giving scope for breathing over prepared food. Thats why I dropped one star.

Last night here for my friend birthday meal! if they are registered up to their mailing list, they will receive a free bottle prossecco if they buy two main dishes. I have an American hot pizza and she had pesto pasta. the two meal times just came under and then we got the bottle prossecco (normally free! there are many seating options, but the restaurant has super busy as so would recommend booking in advance if they are a handle or more!

We had made a reservation for 6:15 since we had tickets for a show at 7:30. Even though we placed our order promptly, our food had not arrived by 7:00. When we asked our waitress about our food, she was busy packaging takeout orders at the time. She said she was just about to check on it. After waiting a few more minutes while the manager and chef argued, the manager informed us that our order had been overlooked. Sadly, we had to leave without having our meal.

Yesterday night because of my friend to the birthday meal here. if they are registered up to their mailing list, they will receive a free bottle prossecco if they buy two main dishes. I have an American hot pizza and she had pesto pasta. the two meals came just under £20 and then we got the bottle prossecco (usually £21) free! there are many sitting opportunities, but the restaurant has super busy as 6. so the booking would be recommended in advance if they are a handle of 4 or more!

After a nightmare shopping experience we needed an escape so chanced our luck in here and was greeted by a friendly Waitress who got us a table, she could see I was flustered with two busy toddlers and she was more than brilliant with them, getting crayons and paper and the chefs hats, and chatting to them while I got myself sorted! We ordered off the Bambino menu for the girls and I had a Pollo Forza, the pizza was great and the best PE pizza I’ve had. All the staff were great and attentive and kept my girls amused too, even looking after my eldest while I took my youngest to the loo (more than once!! . MASSIVE THANK YOU to the Northampton PE team.

What a lovely warm welcome. Firstly we were running late, I called to let pizza express know, not a problem at all. Secondly we only had change for 1 hours parking, we were sorted out and managed two delicious courses comfortably in the hour. Thirdly, the welcome smiles of all the staff made us feel that nothing was too much. My friend is a coeliac, the waitress was helpful and explained all the pizzas were available on gluten free pizza base, so no special menu, no exclusion! The deserts were delicious, I recommend the lemon roulade. Super service, nice decor once you are past the entrance hall. Don't be put off by the entrance, you don't eat in there. The food is excellent, the staff are f...

"I wondered why this restaurant described itself on the board outside as ‘fusion’, why there were so many Korean dishes on the menu and why the serving staff have heard of Asahi beer but haven’t heard of The Asahi Shimbun, a Japanese daily newspaper that is at least 50 years old. The answer is that the Akasaka website isn’t being completely honest when it describes their Northampton branch as a Japanese restaurant. They aren’t really Japanese, although some of their menu items are clearly Japanese. Don’t let that put you off, however, as they are serving excellent food and we enjoyed our meal there very much. It cost us about £70 (inc. 10% tip) for our meal for two people including a 175ml glass of Sauvignon Blanc for my lovely wife and two 330ml bottles of Asahi Dry for me. The sushi was excellent, the edamame beans were great but we didn’t feel that the Dolsot Bibimbap (a Korean dish with loads of rice, some shredded vegetables, prawns and a fried egg on top) offered very good value for money at just under sixteen pounds. We would recommend Akasaka in Northampton and would certainly go there again, but if we want a genuinely Japanese meal, prepared and served by Japanese staff, then we will be sticking to Ginza Restaurant on Wellingborough Road in Northampton. Don’t like the way that the male members of staff at Sakura on Bridge Street speak to their female colleagues, very disrespectful, so we avoid that Japanese restaurant nowadays. Great to have a choice of three Japanese restaurants in Northampton post-pandemic, and our favourite of the three is Ginza."
