"We have eaten at this Pizza Express almost every week for over 10 years. That must be close to 500 visits. It is our go to place for the end of week family catch-up. Reliably, consistently good, both in terms of the food and the staff. And we have lived though various iterations of the menu in that time and several generations of staff. Not perfect, they occasionally produce food that is not great and staff are often young and in the process of being trained while earning little more than minimum wage. But they are just human. And speaking as someone who has eaten all over world, and in one year alone ate at every Michelin star Restuarant in London (a record I suspect), I remain impressed at a Restuarant that can turn out such tasty food week in and out, with a friendly welcome and generally good levels of efficiency. It may be that at peak times it all falls apart for some people, which I can imagine, but we always go off peak. So it remains part of our family life which we all look forward to and really enjoy pretty much every time. In fact I am genuinely looking forward to our next visit!"

I am a fan of Pizza Express, but I did not enjoy the food at this particular restaurant. The kitchen and toilets were also dirty, which was disappointing and unexpected.

First visit to the Tonbridge restaurant. Lots of positives. Menu for the grandchildren was excellent at a very good price, £7.95. Service was good and very friendly. Food excellent. Only one big but, which was the price of one piece of garlic bread. £5.65. Seriously??

To begin with, the staff were extremely attentive and seated us promptly. Our drinks arrived promptly as well, despite them running out of Sauvignon Blanc. The pizzas were slightly smaller than usual, with delicious toppings, though the dough had a crispy bottom and a soft middle base. The rocket salad was disappointing, as it only had grated Parmesan instead of flakes.

Will not be coming back. Very long wait for the food and missing drinks. Strangest bolognese sauce ever with fennel and not sure what else. Definitely not the comfort food you’d expect. Cesar salad had a fish (possibly a sardine? served on top, really odd. The lettuce didn’t look very fresh either. Very, very disappointing. Sadly no one asked us how the food was either. View menu

The young man who served us we think was called Hamish was very kind and polite and made my husband's pizza spicy to his tastes. He was very attentive and I was very impressed with the vegan pizza menu offering a great variety. After eating a huge meal they offer a great size pudding that isn't too huge so you can fit a dessert in!!! They kindly gave us a discount for recognising my taking part in the Tonbridge half marathon.

I feel like they are starting to skimp on portions. I ordered a chicken pizza for £15 and it only had six pieces of chicken on it. The restaurant still has its bold color scheme, but I suspect that someone in charge is now being stingy with the ingredients. It's disappointing because the atmosphere is nice and the staff are great. However, it's disheartening to sit there and count how few chicken pieces are on your pizza, unable to believe that the chef would be so ungenerous.

So disappointed at our dinner in Tonbridge, the staff were very nice and helpful against all odds. Warm beer, I had 1 beer if you want to charge nearly £7 a pint please at least serve it cold, dirty glasses, soggy Calamari, no Jalapeños they had run out, how do you run out of Jalapeños in a Pizza restaurant? 2 glasses of wine nearly the national debt. 3 children and 2 adults cost me £170 REALLY It’s a pizza not a steak restaurant. I won’t be going to Pizza Express again anytime soon. View menu

Despite having space we were declined a table. I’ve long been a fan of Pizza Express so we popped in at about 8pm on a Saturday evening. When we entered there were several pizza delivery drivers waiting to collect orders. Despite plenty of tables empty we couldn’t be fitted in. I’ve owned a restaurant myself, this was poor I get that there may be a delay, or the kitchen is under pressure but no such conversation! Simply we can’t fit you in. I won’t go back, we walked over to the very busy Havet who, despite being very busy fitted us in! I won’t ever be back.

We tried to eat here this evening as we have done many times before. While waiting to be seated, I saw a member of staff shove something in their mouth behind the bar which is fine, we’ve all got to eat, but when she saw me looking, she shrunk down and hid behind the bar. Bit weird! We hadn’t booked so we asked if there was space. We were told that there were no tables at all even there were free tables in the restaurant. I do accept that these could have been waiting for people that had booked. I double checked that there was nothing he could offer us and he said that there wasn’t. As we walked to a restaurant over the road I checked the app and noticed that I could have booked a table for...

"Visited here with my partner in October First impressions were good ones, I’m a big fan of Mexican food and the menus looked as if they had a lot of choice and resonably priced, the restaurant was full with a decent atmosphere, usually a...good sign. Alarm bells started ringing when we ordered our main, calamari and an assortment of chips and dips. The calamari consisted of large, battered rings, clearly frozen (my guess is Iceland) and a mayonnaise. The chips and dips was a whole bag of cheap super market tortillas slopped on a dinner plate accompanied by shop bought hummus, sour cream and gauc. It’s a dark day when you enter a Mexican restaurant and they don’t even make their on guacamole….. even I make my own guacamole! However, we were hungry and ploughed through….. I’d like to point out at this point, I’m months pregnant and when it’s dinner time, I’ll eat anything. For mains we ordered the ginger and chilli tuna steaks which were served ‘turf and surf’ style. This means on its on griddle with a whole jar of what can only be described as uncle bens sauced shoved on top with peppers and onions. The tuna steak was extremely chewy and had a pungent smell. We couldn’t eat it. Praise the lord the the side of McCain’s oven cooked wedges which came with the dish (another whole dinner plates worth), for it was the safest thing to eat. Naturally after deciding enough was enough we asked to speak with the manager who was reluctant to help in anyway, very defensive over his frozen tuna and all in all, a bit dismissive. He did ask if he could get us anything else to eat, I’d rather raid the frozen aisle at my local Tesco thanks, and did offer us a drink on the house, to which we politely refused and asked for the bill. When we received this, the waitress announces proudly ‘here’s the bill, and we’ve given you a discount’ I pick up the paper with baited breath, what is it? Free drinks? Complimentary appetisers?? Nope! They’ve taken a whopping off our bill, which equates to approximately Bravo mariachi grill, bravo, i doth my cap to you in what I can only describe as the worst meal I’ve eaten out in a very long time."
