"We’ve been to loads of Pizza Expresses. They’re convenient, everyone in the family has favourite dishes there, and you know what you get. Or so I thought until I went to this particular restaurant. I’d booked a table, which want needed, even at Sunday lunch...time. That should’ve been a warning. We then got to sit on dirty fleece blankets as something was presumably wrong with the seats. No apology offered. The waitress then tried to get our order before we’d all sat down. We ordered our food and my husband and I ordered pizzas. We asked if we could replace one of the ingredients with something else and the waitress asked if we wanted something extra. I then spelt it out “no, we don’t want X, but Y instead, is that OK?” Which we were told it was. The only saving grace on this visit was that the pizzas were perfectly cooked and piping hot. The pasta bolognese had been buried under a sea of parsley. As I mentioned earlier, you know what to expect from Pizza Express, right? Wrong. My child has ordered this same bolognese a million times and you usually get a light sprinkling of parsley. In this case there was more parsley than Parmesan cheese (which is a lucky thing that it was wanted as we didn’t get asked if we wanted it). Thick disgusting pieces of stalk, totally overpowering the taste of the bolognese. When we said that it was disgusting, no apologies, no offer of a refund or replacement dish. When we got the bill we’d been charged for extra toppings on the pizzas (despite not once being told that we couldn’t swap like for like) and full price for the inedible bolognese. Although the service was quite swift we decided not to leave a tip. They can take the tips out of the extra charge for the toppings and the bolognese. Pizza Express, if you’re looking for branches to shut down, this one is a prime candidate as I’ll choose a different restaurant the next time I’m in the neighbourhood."

We visited for a quick pizza and this restaurant was a great choice. Friendly team and delicious food.

not recommended I ordered from here tonight and was so disappointed by what was delivered. overpriced appetizers of minuscule proportions small soggy calamari rings for and soggy polnta chips for all delivery came cold and stodgie....I will not order or eat at this branch again.

I've been to this branch a few times, and each time there has always been a group of employees lurking at the back of the restaurant not really interested wether or not any customers come through the door. When you do get their attention, it...is blind panic over their faces. Not great.

Been there on a Sunday evening. I ordered dough pizza balls for starter saying that I am allergic to dairy. It arrived with butter, this was so dangerous. The quality of the balls was not the best one, they so chew! After the starter I...had Diavolo pizza. I think it was the worst pizza ever had. ...and it was without pepperoni (spicy salami), the pizza maker forgot to add it. Service was good, the waitress was very gentle and professional. View menu

We visited Pizza Express at just after on a Thurs evening simply to buy takeaway pizzas. Initially this seemed to be no problem even though the last diners left while we were waiting so it was probably closing soon. However, it...took some minutes to get our pizzas, with a promise of some free dough balls (which we didn't really want) because of the wait. However, this would have meant waiting still longer while our pizzas grew cold. Couldn't be bothered and will probably not return there.

I have probably eaten pizzas from different PE restaurants in the last few years. not in the regular delivery. but tonight I had a delivery. it was extraordinary. exceptionally rubbery and cold. such a disappointment. I will not order any delivery again. pe make great pizzas, but can. no pizza, if they want a take away, they get dominos. or simply buy one from sainsbury and save them for a family dinner. To be fair, I think that deliveroo can be just as good to blame, but that was really bad.

Went there with my family after lunch to make sure it’s quiet and to get a good service but I guess don’t matter how busy or quiet it is when your management lack the basics of steps of service ! The manager (slim tall with...beard) have no manners banging our food on table if he’s giving us a free food, no presence on floor the atmosphere is so bad let’s just not talk about the food quality here! On another note Francesco is an asset to this place, very polite and professional; the right person at the wrong place! View menu

I ordered a pizza for the collection, but couldn't get out because my daughter was bad. I called the second and suggested that they give my order to the next person to come in, or aging to have it themselves. the kerl at the other end would have nothing of it. I hadn't explained why I couldn't collect. minutes later it was on the doorstep, hot pierced. I just wish I knew his name as if it was a fantastic example for the going over and over the duty call. I offered him a fifth for his effort, but he kindly refused. a complete herr and I thank you for your service.

we had just delivered pizza and a koks a sprit for and they are the smallest pizzas I have ever seen! You know when you bake a cake? ridiculous! for a pizza is a lot...money, so I would expect it to be inch. that's not a value. my old son could eat one alone. never again! I will make it myself, as I have learned to make pizzas during the lockdown and trust me, it is a very cheap food to make and we make them really good! flour for a pizza that is the IMPORTANT ingredient is like come’on pizza express, get a grip or they will suffer with the customer service for another year!

"A friend and I stumbled on to this neighbourhood restaurant by chance; no research, no booking, no expectations. We were then blown away by the quality of the food: wonderfully fresh fish, beautifully cooked. The service is also exemplary. I've always enjoyed calamari, but this was by far the best I've ever had: truly succulent and juicy. The mussels were almost as good, and the sea bream kept up the standard. The spiced quince with ice cream made a nice change from baclava in a Turkish restaurant (they still threw in some baclava). The owner, Tony, provides excellent recommendations — make sure you take them! He knows what's fresh that morning, and how his wife cooks it. The bill comes hand-written, and Tony forgot to include the wine (obviously I corrected him). I can't remember the last time a restaurant bill made a mistake in the customers' favour! No service charge is included, and it deserves a lot more than the usual 12.5%. This is a wonderful, old-fashioned restaurant, run by a charming old couple, committed to maintaining old-fashioned standards. The food is more than great and the prices more than reasonable. Service is personal, honest and responsive (providing Tony turns his hearing aid on). Tony warns you if anything you wanted was bought in, rather than home-made. Why don't unassuming but wonderful restaurants like this get Michelin stars?"
