"Punjabi Palace an owner managed restaurant in Hagen, unknown to us until yesterday, with an Indian/Pakistani focus. We are a couple with a best friend from the generation 1955 1969 baby boomers still in professional life. The common desired direction was Indian Pakistani, There were actually 3 restaurants to choose from in the Dortmund, Sprockhövel and Hagen area. Coming from the zip code area 44227, we didn't regret it (taking a slightly longer journey from there) to be guests of Mr. Anjam Ali and his attentive wife Ali on Saturday evening between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. On the contrary. Enough preamble: We ate a starter, main course, dessert, drinks and side dishes. For example : Mango Lassi homemade Bengan pakora Machli Madrasi Garlic Naan Gaya Halvar The quality of the food was very good. The redfish was on point and still firm to the bite and not dissolved in the sauce. The freshness of the food was very good. The dishes were professionally prepared, the dishes were not seasoned but developed their seasoning naturally and evenly. The taste was very good, with the sauces that were served and explained by Ms. Ali for the naan, the ladies found the dark sauce with a kind of plum flavor delicious and I liked the green mint sauce. The personal touch came through well in the dessert, Gaja Halvar, which was served warm and therefore fits in wonderfully with the season. So for the core product, the food, a full 5 points plus! Price performance ratio 5 points, as said above, we had three courses and wanted to cancel the dessert first because we were already full, but we couldn't because Ms. Ali was so nice and had already finished the dish. The price was very reasonable for these dishes. The decor of the restaurant is simple, cozy and comfortable, the restaurant was well filled with guests from all age groups, which we really liked. The welcome, the service and the explanations about the food were very friendly, attentive and had an unobtrusive, personal touch. The style of the restaurant is traditionally authentic and suits the taste. We cannot judge the consistent quality of the food since it was our first visit there. But since we really liked it, it doesn't have to stay that way. Many thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Ali for their hospitality!"

Very nice service and very helpful in choosing the right dishes. Decent portion and the highlight for us was the garlic bread.

The food was good. Unfortunately, the restaurant was too cold for my taste, the toilet was mediocre and the ambience was simple. The service was nice, but unfortunately seemed a bit disorganized.

I had Indian-Pakistani food for the first time in my life. It was an absolute taste explosion. (Chicken Tikka Masala and Mango Chicken) Very tasty spices... I would love to come back and order the menu up and down Highly recommended! View menu

The food tastes fantastic! There were four of us here, we ordered one chicken dish, two duck dishes and one lamb dish, an Indian salad, two starters, and lassi. Everything was excellently seasoned. The portion size is good, the service was friendly and quick.

"We wanted to invite our neighbours for Sunday lunch recently and I searched high and low on Tripadvisor for that special Landhaus style place out in the Bergische Land countryside. Christian's Gasthaus seemed to be exactly what we were looking for. From Leverkusen the drive...out to Wipperfurth is ca. minutes if you cruise at a leisurely, Sunday pace. We arrived over a very rural road, finding the restaurant nestled in a small valley. So far so good. There was plenty of free parking outside which was also positive. Inside there was a warm welcome we were just slightly taken aback by the fact that there was only one couple having lunch we had the place almost entirely to ourselves at least for the first hour or so... The Sunday lunchtime menu was rather spartan but all of us were able to find something to eat. I was really looking forward to seasonal roast goose which was available as Confit de Gans with loads of chestnuts, red cabbage and Serviettenknoedel by the way I thought that the asking price of Euro for this dish was rather steep!. I found that it was all rather dry even though I asked for extra sauce. Others in the party had currywurst and Bratkartoffeln, Tafelspitze with the trimmings etc. My wife went for a dish comprising almost excelusively of Serviettenknoedel. She seemed to enjoy it... As we were tucking in to our main meal, rather surprisingly the place started to fill up. In fact by the time we came to order dessert were warned that there could be some time in briniging our food to the table particularly as a large group of family friends had occupied the back room. We weren't under any major tim pressure but certainly service was stretched as more and more people arrived for afternoon teacoffee and Bergische waffles. Seeing the waffles on the other tables prompted us to order them as well for dessert freshly made with loads of warm cherries cream. A coffee at the end did just the trick of rounding off a nice enough afternoon. At the end of the afternoon I came to pay and I think I bumped into Christian in his kitchen. He was keen to try out his English on me which was nice. What was a shock, however was the fact that he doesn't accept any plastic cards only cash. As our meal came to Euro this left me stunned. Fortunately I had just enough cash in my packet, but... So be warned you need cash to eat here"
