"Unbelievable! This was the worst customer experience I've ever had! The staff member with the glasses was incredibly rude; we honestly thought we were in one of those gimmick pubs where employees are paid to treat customers poorly. We were visiting a friend who lives nearby and usually goes to the King Stag, but since they don’t show football, we decided to go to The Lion to catch the game. However, the woman with the large glasses made us feel so unwelcome, as if we were disrupting her evening. As someone who works in pubs in North London and a friend who previously managed wine bars in Manchester, we've never experienced such hostility from staff who are supposed to provide hospitality. I’ll never go back again!"

I visited for Sunday lunch with my family, and we received a warm welcome. The food was of good quality and quite generous in portion. Thank you for hosting us!

The food was delicious, the service went over and above with the staff making our little one a mocktail, they don't sell them but they saw how upset she was so made one just for her, her smile said it all. Thank you so much, we will definitely be back

Decent Sunday roast. However, beware of the ‘bar snacks’. We ordered the chilli jam sausages. At £7, we expected a few, but what turned up was a tiny bowl with 1 sausage cut up. Absolute rip off. It’s a shame because the food and service is generally good not sure why they then need to rip off customers with this sort of trick.

We visited on Sunday for a couple of drinks. Encountered a relaxing environment and a warm and efficient welcome. Decided to order a Sunday Roast ; what a delicious meal, fantastic service and great value. The roast beef was well cooked, with a good selection of vegetables. Obviously, a great team, keep up the good work. I’m definitely going back again as the atmosphere is really nice and the staff made me feel very welcome! View menu

I had a fantastic meal with friends and family. The cozy, dog-friendly atmosphere, complete with a fireplace, made it even more enjoyable. Lucy was delightful and incredibly accommodating; she really made our experience special. Evie was just as charming! The food was delicious, and we polished off every last bite. Lucy assisted us with our selections and when I was surprised to see that no service charge had been added to the bill, she encouraged me to write a review instead. So here I am sharing my experience! Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas!

Disappointing experience. The Sunday roast was very good, although they need to add more vegetables. But what was lacking was customer service. The bar staff were surly and aloof, not very welcoming. We sat at the table which was dirty. We asked the bar maid if she could please clear away the dirty dishes. Well she didn't. The table was still dirty when our meal turned up. Again we had to ask the bar man if he could clear the table first. Which he did, but it's not hygienic to have bacterial cleaner sprayed near your food! Such a shame as this pub has a lot of character. All it needs is better customer service, cleaner tables and more vegetables!
