"It's a truck stop, right? A place where you get a massive home cooked meal served quickly at prices which make you wonder how they do it. For 14 euros, you help yourself from a tureen of soup, then you get a massive plate of salad or quiche or pate, followed by another massive platter of steak and mash, or pork chops with cabbage, or whatever they're cooking that day, and then the cheese board gets plonked on your table, and then there's a generous pudding (fruit tart, chocolate mousse, etc). A carafe of red wine is thrown in with it. No garnishes, no fiddly shapes drawn on the side of the plate in Balsamic goo, no bits of seagrass, no fancy shapes, no mini fryers for your chips. It's all fresh, home-cooked and plentiful. So if you're hungry, this is the place for you. If you're not really hungry, you have food fads, and/or you want to fiddle about with pretty little messes rather than wolf down a massive lunch, go some place else! Oh yes... it's clean, the loos are clean, the service is efficient and smiley, the decor is servicable. But you go there for the food. Yum."

I love this place, it's good simple food done well at a really reasonable cost. I've been a few times for dinner and recently went for lunch which was fantastic. This isn't the smartest looking place in the world but the food is good.

This is a great lunch pit stop. You can tell by the number of trucks that are always in the car park. These guys know where you can get decent, uncomplicated but plentiful food for lunch at a decent price. And it didn’t disappoint. We had a tureen of very good vegetable soup, crudités, melting pork belly (chicken had run out, the truckers had eaten it all) with lovely sautéed potatoes and onions finished off with a homemade dessert. Didn’t have the cheese but what I saw going past looked copious and in very good condition. The lady who looked after us, who I presume was Veronique, was rushed off her feet but still managed to be perfectly charming. For 25 odd euros for two of us I was more th...

"We were delighted to see the Les Routiers sign as we drove into the village, having passed any number of restaurants that were shut, some looking to be of a permanent nature. You are always sure of getting a good meal in a Les Routiers restaurant, sometimes basic but always good. It was a Saturday and getting late for lunch but the place was still packed. Monsieur le patron greeted us as we walked in and sat us down at one of the long communal tables and a young lady, the only one serving and boy did she work hard, explained what was on offer. A four, yes four course menu starting with a buffet followed by a main, chosen from the menu on a board on the wall, then cheese and a dessert and all for 17.5e. All of it was excellent quality and I saw quite a number of people visiting the buffet a number of times, there appeared to be no restriction on how much you could have but in honesty, with everything else to come, one trip and a reasonable selection was more than enough. Our waitress had no English and poor as my French is, we still managed to have a bit of a laugh and I could help her out with another English couple who came in later. Good food, plenty of it and at a really good price and with friendly and cheerful service, what more do you want? Highly recommended. You probably know that Les Routiers started as recommended restaurants for truckers, the French equivalent of our transport cafés but far superior. Now the sign just indicates you will get a good meal at a reasonable price although that is a little different with their places in the UK. Lookout for a Les Routiers La Casserole in France because the food in these will blow you away."
