"The restaurants in Laguepie, where we were staying, looked decidedly shabby, so we went a bit further afield to the Relais Mont Le Vaur at Saint-Andre-de-Najac. It turned out to be a good choice. The restaurant itself was smart in good taste rather than rustic...or glitzy and I had a beautiful view out over the Causse in the evening sun. The Menu Amicale that we chose was the mid-priced of three; an a la carte menu was also available. Like the ambience of the Relais, the food was just right not too flashy, cooked beautifully, except for two little bits of grossly overcooked carrot, and there was an elegant choice for each of our four courses. High points for me were the exquisite mushroom bed/sauce for the veal and a heavenly baked brie and rhubarb cheese course. House wine in a pichet was also pretty good and excellent value. On the basis of this visit, I would have been tempted to rate it as a 5 star eatery. However, when we returned a couple of weeks later, we made different menu choices and, although quite good, I was disappointed to find that my rump steak was on the same bed of mushrooms that the veal had been, butter beans with carrot (not a particularly inspiring vegetable) were again served and that a critical ingredient in an entree was not available and a less attractive substitute was being offered. As this had previously happened for a dessert course, I guess this is standard practice at the Relais. In summary, I would be happy to eat there again but would not have as high expectations as I did after our first visit."

we have visited this restaurant for years. the quality of food and the excellent of the service never varies. the wine list is extensive and well priced (although the vin de maison is consistently good) the menus a la carte and prix fixe...the local kitchen and change with the seasons. eating is beautifully presented and delicious. it is also a great value for a menu of this quality. the service is welcoming, helpful and friendly. next week we will come back to France and we will visit again. that's the one that's gone.

View menu

I must know this restaurant by friends who lived in the opposite. at the time it was a small village restaurant serving the locals on the midday. very simple, just a menu. the cook and his wife worked hard and running the years. I saw the restaurant developed on its current level. I am and I have often done this, driving 1000km to eat here. whenever I'm close, I'll return here and enjoy sebastians (the chef) talent. the man is a culinary genius, at least in my book. his calf is to die, for which I obviously do not do as I want to come back again and again. that is by far the best restaurant in the region.

If you're on your way to/from Cordes (careful lots of tourists) and you'd need a good dinner, this is a very good place. Both Menu and A la carte are excellent. Service is swift and staff friendly. We didn't reserve, but it might be wise...as the restaurant (or at least the terrace) was full on a high summer evening. Cuisine is French (of course), but with local (Aveyron) elements thrown in and some interesting innovations (bell-pepper ice-cream on a bed of strawberries All ingredients local. Reasonable prices given the quality. There is also an interesting shop where you can buy the ingredients of what they serve you (bread, wine, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit), rather original.
