"(One lunch with two persons for 28.50 Euro and one dinner with two persons for 28.70 Euro) The Shakespeares was a good choice today. So good that we came here for lunch and dinner. The onion market is exhausting. Much running and standing. Even if the onion market offers a wide range of stalls with the most varied treats, it is good to rest and make fresh. Very centrally located on the market square in a parallel road to the Schillerstraße, where hardly crowds came through, it was somewhat quieter in the Windischstraße. The Shakespeares came to us through the attractive onion market map and the well-stocked places in the restaurant. That was expecting. The onion market map small and fine with only 13 dishes plus onion cakes the regular menu that we unfortunately do not get into the face. From the principle it will certainly be similar. It was (almost) to find something for every taste. We found a place despite a large company and were immediately asked for our wishes, even before we could fully study the map on the table. During our day visit we decided to use chicken curry and rustbratsl. The dishes were surprisingly quickly brought as if everything was already fixed and finished and had to be served only hot and with fingertips. It was only partly hot, but freshly dressed and fried. Generally, the appetite was a plus. The chicken cure was good everywhere. With my rustball the roast potatoes were unfortunately only lukewarm it tasted good. The sections were relatively narrow. Thus, at this reasonable price there is also only one good at the price-performance star price. The atmosphere left something to be desired against the beautiful naming of the restaurant. It had something of fast snacks and train station atmosphere. However, as we were so satisfied and in the evening we found no more attractive way to get in, we returned here for dinner. That was the same day in the same restaurant again lunch and dinner. In the evening it was filled with sheep cheese for my wife and I thought through the wild goulash I would get another clos comparison with the black bear. It was no less crowded than at noon, and again the food came to the table amazingly fast. And both dishes were recommended again. The clot comparison went to a difference. The wild goulash was very delicious. Conclusion: Some recommendation! Was there for dinner with friends, the place serves solid German food and prices are very reasonable. It might not look super charming, but serves the purpose. Try local food and beer.

We spent an enjoyable evening here. A little quirky it has a small theatre downstairs. Staff were very pleasant, and although there was no English menu, we were well looked after and had a lovely meal. Glad we deserved a table, as customers were...being turned away.

Good selection of German traditional meals, with a few novelties. Their kloss (potato dumplings) were very good, light and tasty, and the duck was superb. Nice layout and atmosphere; it felt warm and bright inside, in contrast to the cold grey outside. Prices were average,...service was good.

We stopped by here with no knowledge of the place, and we were not disappointed. The waiter was very friendly, and we asked him to bring out some German food, so we didn't order off the menu. Everything he brought out was wonderful. He even...helped us with some words in German. Great place. We had a wonderful meal, and everyone was happy!

Vey nice old Bar near the entrance, kind of garden room in the backside. A bit noisy (children running around and screaming; no one complained). Dogs allowed, I found a spacious corner where my big dog could lay down; the waiter even thought in bringing...some water, having full house. Good service, fair prices, traditional dishes. Recommendable.

We went on a very quiet Sunday evening and sat just inside from the biergarten. Lots of solid, traditional Thuringian food on the menu but also salads and other more healthy options. Service was polite and helpful and the food game quickly. The goulash with...potato dumplings and red cabbage was very tasty, the pan fried vegetables somewhat overcome by the garlic sauce. Helpings were so large my partner could not finish and the prices were reasonable.

Someone must have had a sense of humour when they named a restaurant in Weimar Shakespeares considering the town is the home of two of Germany's greatest writers? Perhaps this happened in when England were victorious over (West) Germany in the final of the...World Cup? I think we should be told . . . Anyway, the food and drink that my friend and I received here was fine, with the final bill for several beers each and two mains running in at around thirty euros. Service was attentive and efficient. Would use this place again if visiting the town.
