"Usually, TripAdvisor reviews are accurate and we use them often (write them, too). We must have gone here on a bad day (a Saturday afternoon, actually), because we were very disappointed. The "scaloppina" which should be thin, tender slices of veal, was 3 large thick chewy cutlets of pork in a brownish sauce, not all that different from what you see all over Germany. And it came with French fries. The pasta carbonara was heavy and stickly and noticeably lacking in ham. Go elsewhere for Italian food. In fact, skip Ruedesheim altogether and head down the Rhine to Bacharach or St. Goar, much more interesting towns without the tour bus mobs."

Not cheap and the owner does a lot of TAMTAM for nothing.

I really enjoyed the meal and it was well priced, but there were dozens of tiny flies everywhere. I couldn't believe it. I had to cover my wine glass to keep them out. Is this normal?

Friendly staff, affordable prices and delicious pizza. I have tried quattro formaggi pizza and I enjoyed it. The price is also cheaper when I compare it with the Pizzaria places in Mainz.

Similar to dinning in a small Italian home with the food having a truly authentic flavor and presentation. But the restaurant has moved now to Assmannhausen near the train station. But worth the trip and they have a new Stone Pizza Oven to boot.

We wanted to order take out, the restaurant were open until 23.30. We came at 22 but the refused, the kitchen was closed they told us ... In a mail they told us they were leaving the next Day for a month holiday, so they were cleaning. Still it would have been nice to have known ...

Found this restaurant behind the hotels facing the Rhine in Assmanhausen close to railway station. It's very good value for money , food is nice and a good selection, drinks are also reasonable 2.30 euro for a local beer, service is swift and the staff are very friendly and welcoming. Much better value than cafes/restaurants in Rudesheim itself View menu

On the opening Sunday at the new site in the middle of Assmannshausen, Assmannshausen was very well filled in red and ristorante. There were longer waiting times until the food was served. The noodles were delicious, the sauce not too fat and the pizza juicy and delicious to the edge. Prices are reasonable, drinks are not too expensive. Only the location on the train is the weak point, parking in front of the door enough available, free of 6 pm. Here I can give 5 stars and come back next week.

After many hours of visiting the Christmas Market in Rudesheim we stopped in La Romantica. It was early, around 5:00pm. We had no reservation, but the place was evidently booked full starting at 7:00pm. We were politely told we could be accommodated but the table was reserved at 7:00pm. This is a smallish, clearly family restaurant. The menu was pizza and typical Italian dishes. The service was friendly and prompt. The pizza was different than pizza in the US, very thin crust, but tasty and very reasonably priced. Be prepared though, this establishment does not accept any credit cards, which I found unusual in a historical tourist town.
