"We were looking for a nearby restaurant for a pre-theatre meal on a rainy Monday, and after discovering that AleOli was closed and The Anchor wasn’t serving food, we decided to cross the bridge to one of our favorite spots. We received a warm welcome and the service was friendly. Since we arrived early, it was relatively quiet, but the atmosphere was pleasant as always. I ordered the wild mushroom risotto, which was quite rich but that’s to be expected. I also enjoyed a nice glass of house red, which I believe was Sicilian. My friend opted for a beer, possibly Ludlow Gold. I wasn’t able to find a menu online, so please double-check that. Overall, I highly recommend this place!"

Absolutely charming restaurant to dine at. From the different chairs at the tables to the fantastic lighting, the place has a warmth and charm about it. Oh, and the food is great also......let's not forget the food. When I'm back in Shrewsbury, I'll pay a visit.

In my humble opinion the best restaurant in Shrewsbury. The food is superb, the service is prompt and friendly. It is a real pleasure to dine at the Riverbank. Arranged a meal for 19 people and could not fault the service and everyone said that they would certainly be going back. Well done Riverbank team.

I dined here tonight and it was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was lovely, the food was delicious, and the service was outstanding—really friendly and incredibly attentive. They served us complimentary bread while we waited for our freshly prepared meal, which was a nice touch. The food was truly fantastic! I'm so glad we discovered this place. We initially called for a drink, then decided to return for dinner. It was definitely worth it. Thank you so much!

I've been coming to this restaurant since it opened, and I'm so happy to see it thriving. Even during these challenging times, the place was bustling, and the staff certainly earn the 10% service charge. We shared the veggie paella, which was more than enough for two, while our friends had the belly pork and mushroom risotto. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and I can't forget to mention the halloumi fries we snacked on first—they were fantastic. I've never had a bad experience here; it's always been excellent. I hope it continues this way for a long time!

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
