"My wife and I visited the main restaurant in the Romantik Seehotel Sonne twice this month on the occasion of our birthdays. On both occasions we were extremely impressed and consider this to offer a high quality and complete dining experience, possibly the best in Zürich. It delivers a complete package to delight the senses. Firstly, parking is not a problem as it has valet service with security. The hotel reception dealt with our enquiries quickly & efficiently - then we had just a few steps over a little internal bridge in the hotel to get to the restaurant door. The serving staff organized our coats quickly and with a minimum of fuss. The restaurant ambiance is "an oasis of calm"; restrained tasteful decorations and very comfortable chairs. Secondly, The view from our table through the garden and out over the lake at night was SPECTACULAR. The beautiful fairy lights in the trees twinkling in the winter evening and the lights reflecting off the lake - an absolutely visual delight. We were introduced to our waitress Nadine (more on her later) who did everything to make our dining smooth, effortless and enjoyable. The inquiry on an aperitif, the delivery of the menus and wine list all happened within a minute of sitting down, just at that right psychological moment when we had finishing the exclamations about the view. The wine list has been put together with great skill and care. Not only is there good national and international selections, the wines are quite well priced considering we are in Switzerland. On each evening we chose a different French Burgundy. They were both Premier Crus from good years and well known high quality producers - clearly someone at this restaurant knows what they are doing (and I am in the wine trade in Germany). Nadine checked the corks herself before inviting a taste. Now to the food. There is a clear intention with each dish to both challenge and surprize the senses. The combinations of ingredients, mixing the classic with "new wave" had us talking and comparing with each delicious mouthful. The special Valentines Menu (fixed "menu d'amour" of between 3 and 6 courses, you can pick and chose yourself) represented super value for money and a veritable explosion of tastes and combinations to wake up even the most jaded tastebuds. As more guests arrived we didn't notice any increase in noise, or hectic. The clever and talented Nadine and her team members dealt with everything perfectly. Nadine is a role model in my view. She blends speed and efficiency with genuine warmth and friendliness. I even tested her knowledge on the ingredients in the various sauces - she passed with flying colours on every question - what would be expected in a Michelin starred restaurant !! All in all we plan to go back very soon. Although this is the little sister of the famous Dolder Grand Hotel, the Restaurant Sonne is at the top of its game - Watch out big sister!!!"

We enjoyed a leisurely weekend brunch at Sonne. The offerings were sufficient though not expansive. Fresh juices, great breads, and terrific service with a wonderful ambience.

Went for a business lunch. Good daily menu and a la carte. Very good service. Lovely wood panelled dining room. Lunch for two without alcohol, but with coffee was CHF 86 with tip. Probably 10 more per person than in the CityCome in the warmer months and sit out on the terrace. They have self service View menu

Lovely lakeside terrace. Very good service; the patron and his wife are very much in evidence. The food is first-rate: we enjoyed paillard of veal, Zürich strips of veal in creamy sauce with rösti, pike fish fillets, and our vegan friend was happy with her vegan burger. Fine local wines. Prices are high but this is the Gold Coast of Lake Zurich and the view makes it all worth it.

I ate here several times for dinner, both alone and in a group. The food is quite good, of a fine dining caliber. Menu has options for vegetarians too. In the spring they had a special asparagus menu. It is nice to sit outside when the weather is nice as there's a great view of Lake Zurich and the restaurant has a pretty trellis with lights. Inside ambiance is nice too. Recommended if you are in the neighborhood or vicinity.

Restaurant Sonne has location directly on the lake. The garden self service restaurant is well organized, has a playground for children and the summer/holiday feeling. The food we had (flammkuchen and frisky planted chicken) was sadly too oily. The flammkuchen with tomato and mozzarella lacked tomatoes even according the taste of my 9 year old. The crispy planted chicken was fried and oily and my stomach wasn’t very happy about it afterwards. The best was the corn on the cob. Service friendliness could be improved. View menu

It's always great when you revisit a place after a long time. The Restaurant Sonne is not only a lovely place but the are very successful in maintaining a great variety of food in outstanding quality. However, this time the service was what impressed me most. Hopefully it's correct - Nadine - from Germany was our waiter and this was just simply great. She had a natural customer focus, friendliness and happiness that really spread across the restaurant.so go there and get the food and customer focus experience - if you don't, I definitely will.

It's large, mostly quiet and has one if the most beautiful views of Zurisee (Zurich Lake). The ferry makes scheduled stops, sailboats and fishermen paint the scene as the sun sets to the S.east. Oh! The food. It's self serve. You stand in line, grab your tray and utensils while reading the overhead menu.
