"One of two pubs in the hamlet of Tewin. Mentioned often in John Carrington's Memorandoms as the pub his son ran in 18/19th century. It first time to have visited in a while and seemed to have changed hands had a refurb inside since before. Sat outside in a small, peaceful enclosed garden area furnished with about 6 or 7 umberella'd bench tables. Cliental seemed to be locals or walkers. The Rose Crown also has a large car park. We ordered from the bar from a handwritten menu but there was a specials board too. Felt food took a little while to arrive but when did it was worth it. Portions were not overpowering but enough. Reasonable price too. Not over fancy. My partner had turkey ham pie chips from appearances looked homemade stuffed with large chunks of meat. Myself a chicken burger in a brioche bun chips. This was a grilled chicken breast. Service was cordially friendly. Following his recommendation my partner was tempted by a spotty dick custard pudding which was quickly devoured without complaint. Would we return? Yes. For a pleasant drink bit to eat."

Treated staff horribly. Wouldnt even treat a dog like that. In disbelief how you still get custom ..

Omg the Sunday roast was amazing, you need to do a good walk first as so much food. Chicken, stuffing, yorkies and 7 veggies. Friendly staff and very dog friendly

What a delicious Sundays roast definitely recommend one of the best I have ever eaten beautiful beef and don’t forget to order the cauliflower cheese absolutely splendid, what a lovely family run pub owners and staff couldn’t be more nice and polite.

Extremely rude!! We rang and booked a table. When we arrived there was no food left. We spoke to the manager to be told we don’t take bookings in a very rude manner, no apology or consideration for the fact we had driven 25 mins or had 2 hungry children. What a joke avoid this pub like the plague.

we popped in for Sunday lunch, what we had was nice but there wasn't a lot on the plate, 2 roast potatoes each, small yorkshire pudding, small amount of vegetables, they brought out a little milk size jug of gravy, overall a bit of a let down, we were still hungry afterwards, not worth the £18.95- £20.00 charge per meal.

Beautiful village pub run by the most welcoming family. The food is all homemade and tastes amazing (have sampled most of the menu). Sean, Martine, Mercedes and Gabriel are all so accommodating and friendly. Their roast dinner is worth a visit alone, it tastes so good. The karaoke nights are a huge success and the quiz recently was lots of fun. Will continue to keep coming back as I enjoy every visit.

Stopped here for a sunday lunch 1 pm after our 1st beautiful walk in the area. Albeit a small menu on the wall, good choice, something for everyone. More importantly fantastic food, we both had roast chicken and everything on the plate was cooked to perfection, loved the roasties, carrot mash and gravy as well as the chicken. Pleasant and friendly staff, not over-attentive. SO glad we ignored the reviews below. The pub was very quiet, so we Il definitely be bringing our friends next time!.: Thankyou!

Awful ! Turned up today and was given a hand written menu scribbled on a piece of paper with 6 options. Table undressed in a dark cold room. No menus, no cutlery, no atmosphere, just nothing. Asked the manager for a proper menu, and was told they don’t have any !! And he walked away. What a shame for a beautiful building location in a pretty village. No wonder the pub was completely empty on a Sunday lunchtime. Would give no stars if I could. Rubbish! We left immediately and went to a wonderful pub with great service, and fabulous menu.

A totally unique experience! Place was empty, apart from a bunch of LOUD local drinkers (Owners buddies) We were having a drink and looking through the menu, when a large black rat ran under our table! Of course we were horrified, and went get out of there ASAP. But the owner started shouting at us, as he was waiting for us to order! We did not get into a shouting match, as the husband and wife owners are VERY weird and aggressive! In all my years in Worldwide restaurants and Country Pubs, Ive NEVER been is such an intimidating and abusive situation. Just AVOID at all costs!
