"as a group of 6 we were very dissatisfied with our experience in this restaurant, I really do not know why it is rated with number 1 as it failed for us on many flats. there are only 1 waiter and that's why he was stressed,...short and not very friendly, as he was too busy and that was just the beginning. we have booked for 8 o'clock, there was no fish of the day, no lambbone, 4 of our dishes came cold, the kartoffels and veg are calculated as extras. the paella was beautiful like the babysquid starter, but that's where the good food ends up in fear. the restaurant is not really welcoming and the restaurant is not located in a comfortable opposite, no sitting places in the free and for most tables no prospect of anything except a very stressed waiter. I am sorry that this is not a more positive assessment, but I feel that this was very accurate for all people I have dined with this night, the 2 stars are for eating alone"

"Excelente restaurante. Fuimos 2 veces en una semana de lo mucho que nos gustó : La comida es casera, muy sabrosa, y buenísima. Probamos sopa de goulash, pollo con salsa y pasta casera, carne de cerdo empanada (normal y con salsa de mostaza dulce , y strudel de manzana... Todo excepcional. La dueña atiende las mesas y es muy simpatica y atenta, así como el cocinero que en ambas ocasiones salió por las mesas a ver si todo estaba bien. La terraza es muy agradable, el bar inglés de al lado tiene TV en la terraza y cuando hay fútbol hay un poco de ruido, pero a pesar de esto, se está muy bien. La terraza, mesas, interior del local, y el baño, son bonitos, limpios y cuidados. Tienen trona."

"An amazing curry with fresh ingredients, cooked to perfection without excess ghee. We had prawns and king prawns, which were plentiful. Tried the rogan Josh and the bunha with Tara Dahl. The onion nan was delicious. We ate here three times it was so good!"

Yesterday we went to dinner, celebrating the anniversary with my partner. the treatment was excellent: wine, food and attention of the staff! rice is the strong dishes of this restaurant, divine! besides the entrance that are delicious. "I've known this hotel/restaurant for over 25 years, in fact since I moved to this area, and have enjoyed many celebratory meals here. Sadly my work schedule seldom allows me to stop off in Calahonda to eat, but a visit by family from the UK provided the excuse to revisit El Ancla, and we weren't disappointed. Our various tastes, from traditionally English to typically Spanish, were all catered for, with a bit of Italian thrown in, and we all ate well too well in fact as most of us we were defeated by the large servings. We ate on the hotel's all weather terrace, with its lively international ambience, but there are other options too from quick pizzas to formal restaurant. The only slight negative was the service got slower as the meal progressed, but that was entirely due to it being a very busy lunchtime service there was hardly a vacant seat, let alone table. I will certainly return."
