In Aachen it is a must to try a Sauerbraten; i't's a speciality of this region and is very good; it's a beef meat roast in sauce with grapes, a little bit sweet sour.

Wanted to experience this typical local dish for my birthday. we got a table walking in from the street on a sunday lunchtime. A wonderful local pub atmosphere full of families. We had the sauerbraten with potato dumplings and red cabbage washed down with a...wiessbeer. People like me come from kilometers away to experience this food.

Incredibly fantastic! I was in Europe for days and had many, many wonderful meals at quite a variety of places, yet my meal at Sauerbraten Palast really stands out as one of the best. The service was good and friendly, and the Sauerbraten was...phenomenal! The sauce was so perfectly balanced between tangy, sour, sweet and mildly spicy. It was just so luscious and velvety. So perfect! I was such a happy camper. Really awesome.

I came here by a friend’s recommendation. The place is quite hidden from the crowd but the food was good. I didn’t know what their specialties are but I was gambling on having their pork knuckles. The meat is tender and juicy. Perfectly marinated but...I was expecting the skin to be more crunchy. My son had a plate of currywurst. It was ok, I guess. For me, the food I had was not so special, but I will definitely come back for other dishes. The place is about minutes driving from the city center. It was quite easy to find a parking spot along the street. Caution, cash only.

My husband and I were staying in Belgium but were wanting authentic German food. This place did not disappoint, and we found it from reviews here on TA. My husband and I both got the Sauerbraten half and half which is half fries and half...noodles...but they weren't half portions, they were huge. My husband and I could have split an order. We ordered a salad and red cabbage as our sides (you pay for the sides...had we known, we would have skipped the sides...we were having communication issues)..we speak English, so she brought an English menu, but it got confusing when ordering and we had all this food...but it was all delish!!!! We left there so full and satisfied.

This establishment recently changed hands but, they have retained the recipes and possibly the cook as well. The first time we visited it was closed (a Wednesday evening), however it was open on the Friday, we arrived fairly early We were immediately seated at...a long table that ran the length of the bar with strangers either side of us. The waitresses were different polite and efficient but gave the impression that they ruled the roost. We all had the beef marinated in vinegar, one with pasta, and two half-and-half, with pasta and chips.
