Loved it here. Very nicely decorated inside and pleasant staff. They have an English menu which is useful instead of relying on google translate. Food arrived after a short wait and was delicious with generous portions. Very well priced too

Wandered into the square where this pub is and the clouds came over so we decided to dive in. Had a great beer and lovely local wine with some fantastic food which hit the spot after a day out ! English menu too which made...life easier! Great value, friendly staff good food View menu

This was our second holiday in Gengenbach and again we dined at Schatull nearly every night. There are other excellent restaurants in Gengenbach but none come close to the value, atmosphere, service and great food in Schatull. Indoor and outdoor tables. Good range of beer,...wine and spirits too. Naturally, we spoke German as much as we could but they even have an English menu and the helpful staff speak enough English to help out

I am always going to remember the Salatplatte Marché. It's one of the best salads I have ever had. The dressing and the mix of ingredients, the veggies, the boiled eggs it all came together beautifully. The salads in the Black Forest area are...different in style to what I have had in other countries. Absolutely loved it. I also had the egg noodles. The service can be slow, they are quite busy and seem to have limited staff. Also, their staff don't all understand English. But if you are patient, it's all good. Ate here at our first night in Gengenbach. Great atmosphere and it was obviously used by locals and tourists alike. Waiter did speak very good English, which was a great help to a nonGerman speaking couple like us. We both ordered Rosti, with ham and...fried egg for a main course. I had a desert of apple fritters with ice cream. My husband had ice cream only for desert. Several large glasses of local wine and local beer waiter helped us choose and the bill was euros. Food and service were excellent. We did come back on another night and enjoyed a drink at the bar. Again, great to soak up the atmosphere. They do not take card payments cash only

Since many of the reviews of Schatull are favorable, I hesitate to submit a negative report as our experience was perhaps an anomaly. However, I think it is important to share our observations. We arrived at Schatull and were seated within minutes. The waiter...took our drink order and meal order at the same time. I pointed on the menu to the meals we wanted and established that the meals did not contain mushrooms my wife is allergic. My wife's place setting consisted of a dirty knife and no fork when the waiter promptly brought our drinks, he provided clean place settings for both of us so far so good.
