"We went as part of a larger group of people and the staff seemed to really struggle with that and sometimes would ignore you when you tried to help them get the food to the right person. The restaurant is a nice location and the...restaurant itself looks nice, though it is pretty loud when full. The food I had was just okay. I had the Penne Arrabbiata, which was not spicy at all, not just in my opinion but also of the others who also had it (the name in Italian means angry, because it is supposed to be spicy hot), also it was pretty oily as well, and they put whole olives including the pits in it, which seemed out of place and made it awkward to eat. Some of the others had appetizers, some of which they liked and other ones that were only okay as well, the most common complaint was things being a bit too salty. The only dishes everyone seemed to be very happy with were the curly kale with sausage and fried potatoes and the chocolate souffle. It is a nice place for a beer, but for more than that I would go elsewhere in future."

Nice restaurant with very good food in a very nice neighbourhood. The food is good with good ingredients and big portions. Prices are a bit expensive but you get good quality.

Decent food try their salads) , good service and excellent people-watching. Right in the heart of the trendy Kreuzviertel. On BVB matchdays they serve Currywurst with their hommade sauce, yummy!

…a wonderful place to visit…it’s always great to get back to your former home town to have a family evening for [had family coming in from Hamburg, Passau München etc] and as in previous years just perfect…see you next time…

nice place, freindly service a bit pushy at pm as the kitchen was closing, that is MUCH TOO EARLY!! Schnitzel Vienese was good, but not as good as in Munich, well you are in Dortmund, but foor Dortmund, its probably as good as it...gets.

This Restaurant is definitely one of the best in this area. They serve authentic and humble local classics with a fancy touch.Great flavours and nice atmosphere! Staff is super nice as well! They also offer an impressive breakfast! Its worth visiting if you are in...Dortmund and looking for something nice to go with your partner.

After the Dortmund game we walked slowly towards our Hotel when we stumbled upon Schönes Leben. We had dinner for four and all were good with extra plus for the Spagetti Gambas and the Risotto. We had a bottle of Piemonte white wine which we choosed from a well combined wine list. The waitresses were very kind and helpful and helped us for example to charged our mobiles.

The restaurant is really inviting and cozy inside and also offers wonderful outside seating on the pavement. The service is friendly and they get to know regulars. Wine list and beers are of good quality. For vegetarians the menu is limited but I never get...tired of the dishes. The salads are large and very filling. The weekend brunch is very popular so best to go early or reserve. I can't visit Dortmund without stopping here at least once.
