I've been coming here for years.Consistent quality but don't expect much more than average pub grub.

Had a lovely meal here at this Greene King pub. Alex Chris took our orders were extremely helpful attentive. A great asset to the Smiths Arms team.

Tried to eat here on a Thursday lunchtime. The place was busy but not inundated. A sign told customers to inform a member of staff if you wanted to eat and you would be allocated a table. The few serving staff were hard to find and when I stopped one and asked she directed me to the barman. The barman was excellent at avoiding eye contact and spent an inordinate amount of time serving and chatting to two customers. We gave up eventually and went elsewhere. Shame because we have enjoyed eating there on the past.

Disappointed with management/service, the till system was down when we arrived so paid for drinks in cash and were told we could order food if we had exact cash. We went to order with cash and was told they wouldn't take food orders in cash without the till system because they wouldn't write the orders for the chef by hand. After much debating we waited some time for the tills to be fixed. Once we ordered food there were several vegetables and a sauce listed on the menu that didn't arrive on the sea bass and the filet steak tasted of burnt charcoal. Disappointed in the whole experience as the building and beer gardens should make a lovely country pub

Very disappointing, I had trio of meat, Beef, Pork, Turkey, 1 very thinly sliced piece of beef, it was like tissue paper, certainly not carved, 1 supermarket style Pork Loin which was tough, and 2 bits of crumbled Turkey. The veg was watery Broccoli small florets and Cabbage, the potatoes were advertised as roasted in Garlic and Rosemary no evidence of garlic and rosemary whatsoever, the Yorkshire Pudding was ok. My husband had Steak Ale Pie which he said was ok. When asked if our meal was ok, I just mentioned about the Potatoes and got the reply oh sorry, and that was it, a Bottle of Heineken 0.0 was £4.15p Three of the bar staff had dirty tea towels hanging out of their pockets.
