"While staying in the hotel I booked a table for two in the restaurant for an evening meal, and for breakfast the next day. Being a vegetarian I am used to very few options on a menu and the Solway was no exception, thankfully I'm...not a vegan anymore as I couldn't see anything that would have been ok for that. The portions were huge but they were also very greasy. I think the chef liked using cheese because my starter (nachos) were caked in it, and my main course, lasagna, was drowning in it. Yes, I know that both courses usually come with cheese but not the amount that was used, which left a layer of grease on the food and a lake of it under the food too. My partner had garlic mushrooms for starter which might have been defrosted on account of them being cold in the middle (she left them), and then had fish for her main, which she didn't enjoy either. Breakfast was mush the same I had a vegetarian breakfast that should have come with a mop for the amount of grease on the plate. No word of a lie, I was able to squeeze the mushrooms and get a river of grease on the plate, and when I cut into the hash brown it collapsed and was just mush. Thankfully my partner just had toast as this couldn't be ruined. The place was filled and noisy. I suspect locals are using the place to order a small meal in order to use the bar as pubs are under covid lockdown there was a drunk couple at the next table who kept getting louder and louder, swearing, burping and farting. Couldn't wait to get out. If you like large greasy portions you'll be in heaven. If you want good food that's healthy in a nice atmosphere forget it."

this hotel needs a total revamp inside the room was not as described, lamps cracked tape holding down the carpet edge rustie radiator so not brilliant

After a recommendation, we chose the special ! Lamb, unchewable, with frozen chips, astounded, at this presentation in 2021 ! This is hotel food, unbelievably bad !

after an earlier bad experience immersed for a coffee. each deserves a second chance etc. big mistake! the tasteful brown liquid, which was served as a coffee, was enough to escape and we will avoid future.

Family of 7 eat here ,night before wedding and staff we lovely ,polite and friendly .Some of our meals were good but 2had fish and it was terrible ,honestly Iceland do better fish portions ,because of restriction we were sat at lovely big table in...a corner which suited us fine

for the first time visit, without booking for a meal aborted. made to feel welcome, and the menu selection was diverse and inclusive. the possibility of many selections of a smaller part was appreciated by my companion. eating as served was well presented and. excellent portion sizes. much more for less good eating than that.

Called in evening food not till 5 it just filled up with in minutes lovely staff covid mask seating etc lovely well mannered waitress took the order didn't have to wait long a plate full excellent value food would recommend this place vertually ever table...used in bar area few In restaurant too managed my portion was full !! Many thanks for a good evening

we have booked this restaurant on a recommendation of a friend, and we have not been disposed of anyway, nothing was too much effort for the staff arrived when we were greeted by a very intelligent polite young man and to our...table, drinks were ordered and arrived very fast and 1 drink was made specifically on 1 of our guests, they were brought to us by a wise and polite young woman

would be highly recommended for fabulous eating! we visited accidentally, all day mothering Sunday and of course we had not booked; the restaurant was jam packed, but the wonderful staff let us eat in the bar! I had a nice surprise with you. a glass bubbly on the house to celebrate also Mother's Day! the girls who have never stopped! they were very attentive and helpful and eating was nice, but the portions were huge, so would eat 2 or only one main guess, do not both! would return absolutely.
