Outstandingly good food, simple but comfortable setting, staff friendly and efficient. Good choice of food, all clearly home made, incredible portions. Best restaurant on the island by far!

A lovely meal served by friendly staff. We visited as a party of 3 . I had the beef cheek . It was delicious. My wife had the lasagne which she said was delicious. The portion size was good and cost reasonable. It take your own booze with no corkage charge.

Fantastic little restaurant, extensive choice of dishes, primarily using local ingredients. Friendly and efficient service from Val and the team. Restaurant is ‘Bring you own’ alcohol so makes the whole experience affordable during these recessionary times. Well worth a visit but remember to book well in advance. View menu

A first class family run restaurant in the beautiful village of Lochranza on the Isle of Arran. Delicious food and lovely friendly family running the business. We have tried previously to book but it was full so delighted we got a booking this year. Sadly the business is up for sale or we would definitely have been booking for next years. Thanks again we had a lovely last evening to our holiday. J Dickson family

Three weeks in Scotland and this was the best food while being welcomed by the owner 's Valerie and Rino. Best Venison I have ever had. Also, they have an assistant that is an artist, and she displays her work in a case. Purchased Highland Cow tea towels. Pronounced if you are a local sounds like Eland Coo . Be sure to make reservations, owners are looking to retire soon, don 't miss this special treat if you are on the Island.

We have tried and tried to get in here but never been successful, but we booked 6 months ago and finally made it. Lovely little restaurant, think maybe 20 covers. Lovely people who own it and I think one waitress who was great. Just really good home cooked food, we all loved it, big portions, no corkage, and it was very well priced. I don’t want to say cheap but I guess it was, would have been far more elsewhere. Only tiny complaint was it was baking in the restaurant but I’m always hot . Loved it. View menu

We have been coming to Arran for years but only heard of this place in recent years and never been able to get a table. It was well worth the wait. Nothing fancy and all in very simple settings but I can see why it’s so highly rated. Friendly fast service. Food was delicious with big fresh portions. The sticky toffee cheesecake was outstanding. The only downside was hearing that the owners are hoping to retire and sell up. Otherwise we would definitely be back. We were staying in Brodick but it was worth the 25 minute drive both ways.

"We were a party of 5, on a cold, very wet Saturday evening, coldest so far I would say! We drew up and saw a young family of 3 sitting with jackets on in the conservatory area, we were a bit concerned! We took a...seat at the back of the conservatory which proved to be a big mistake! There was a terrible draught coming from behind me, I did mention it and was told it was 27c at the middle of the room, but not where we were sitting!! I mentioned it a few times and sat with my shawl scarf on throughout! I pulled down the window blinds hoping that would help, nope!! We ordered our food, I asked about a vegetarian option for my husband, our waitress did say he could a veggie option on the curry and the tempura or risotto, which was helpful! I had to ask what was the soup of the day and also the pate!! I did feel that maybe in this day and age there should have been a small dedicated vegetarian area on the menu, but that’s just my opinion! 3 of our party had starters which were great, Cullen skink, scallops and langoustine tempura, Main courses arrived, 3 fish and chips, one lemon soul and one veggie tempura, all were excellent except for the veggie tempura which was large shards of onion and carrot in an albeit lovely batter, but not all vegetarians like huge chunks of vegetables! 4 of our party had a sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream, which was plentiful! Overall we had a pleasant meal, little or no atmosphere though, one of the younger waitresses (white shirt, black skirt) was friendly and more talkative, the waitress (dressed all in black)who served us was, we all felt a little disinterested and lacked any empathy with the guests! We asked for our bill, the youngest waitress came with the card machine and felt how cold it was only then did she check the windows to find there was one opened, hence the draught, which spoiled our visit because we were felling it cold!! We paid the bill and left a tip on the plate, no one came to say thank you for you custom, or have a nice evening, nothing!! All in all it was pretty inhospitable! Value you for money, it was good for the standard of the food!"
