Had a very good Sunday lunch today.. I went up with my youngest boy and the chef asked him what meat he would like , he asked for chicken which is not normally on the carvery . But the chef he said he don't normally work sundays) said that's ok I can cook him up a piece of chicken , give me 10 mins, I thought this was very nice of him and made our visit very welcoming.. We will sure to visit again Lovely food and great member of staff to serve me

I decided to try out this restaurant after noticing the attractive building while visiting a local establishment a few weeks ago. They offer excellent and reasonably priced beers. Parking was easy, just make sure to enter your details in the tablet at the entrance. The food was fresh and some seemed homemade. One small suggestion would be to heat the plates a bit more, especially since it is a spacious restaurant. It would also be nice to have a side of mushroom and tomato with the steak. Katie was our server for lunch and she was welcoming, thoughtful, and efficient.

Went with a large (12) family group for a late lunch yesterday (22/04/2023) Food was really lovely. We had the some of the choices of jacket potatoes that were loaded with filling. The sandwiches that were lovely and had so many choices but went for the beef and horseradish and beef was beautiful. The burger was juicy and very nice. My husband went for the chicken with buffalo sauce dirty fries and the portion was really great size and he really enjoyed them. We had a few kids with us and the food was a good choice for them and good size. Will definitely be going back. Staff were very good to accommodate us as we didn't pre book and had a large party that all wanted to eat. Highly recommende... View menu

I 've been a frequent customer of Stanshawes for many years. However after todays experience I doubt I will ever return. Was with my daughter, mother in law and young grandson. The 'normal ' menu wasn 't available due to the chef omitting to order stock apparently. That was OK, we chose from the alternative menu and were pleased with the food. However....the atmosphere was entirely ruined by a group of 4 women nearby who swore profusely, shouted and were generally disruptive. They couldn 't have cared less that there were young children and elderly people nearby. Not one member of staff asked them to tone it down. Stanshawes, you have lost some regular customers! Not a family orientated pub...

My husband, myself, and my mother-in-law went to Stanshawes for Christmas lunch. Unfortunately, the meal was not up to its usual standard. We have had many excellent Sunday lunches here in the past, but this time, all of the vegetables, including cauliflower, broccoli, sprouts, and carrots, were undercooked. The sprouts were so tough that we couldn't even cut them with a knife. We were very dissatisfied with the meal, as the gravy was watery and lukewarm. Perhaps it was due to a different chef? Normally, we see a lady chef on Sundays, and her meals have always been great. Despite this disappointing experience, we will still visit this pub as it is local to us, the staff are very friendly, an...

"Went for an impromptu meal with her indoors, as this was a local pub we've not been in for a long time we thought will pop in. Greeted by an over enthusiastic bar person who was dragging out the empties from the night before, ordered a couple of drinks and we sat down with the menu's, after perusing the menu we were ready to order, at the same time we were ready a regular couple walked in and sat at there regular table and oredered there regular meal, but the regular gentleman actually wanted an extra sausage with his sausage and chips, well! The kerfuffle this caused was astronomical, this conversation went on for Many many minutes, my wife and I was desperately trying to catch her attention to have another drink, eventually my wife went to the bar and waited, we got served eventually. Then our food came out of the kitchen, we went for the light bites as we were in a snacky mood, Chicken strips Mozzarella bites Chips with curry sauce and nachos. We never got the nachos as there was no guacamole BTW Chips came out which were actually fries, covered in this sauce, gross, then we had 3 chicken strips with no garnish Β£4.95 Β£1.63 each Then 4 mozzarella bites came out, no, nothing else just 4 mozzarella bites, Β£4.95 Β£1.24 each. So if you want have your pants pulled down and be robbed of your hard earned cash then this is the place to go, as for me and my wife we won't be. We did mention the poor quality and value for money but it was brushed under the dirty carpet and she was going to feed our comments back to the kitchen."

"I was excited to revisit the New Inn after many years, as it used to be a favorite spot of mine. My group of 8 had pre-ordered at the request of the New Inn, but we were told 15 minutes after our booking time that our food was just being prepared. An hour later, our food still hadn't been served. After checking with the staff, the manager assured us that our order was next. Another 10 minutes passed before our food finally arrived. The gammon came with sides that we didn't like and were not mentioned on the menu. The portions were oversized, which was nice, but they were too much and off-putting. The salad trimmings were of poor quality. The fish in batter was enjoyed by those who ordered it. The main meals were okay, but I would have preferred better quality over quantity. We had to chase the staff for a glass of water, and even after being offered dessert menus, no one came to take our order. When we decided to follow up at the bar, the manager seemed more interested in finding out which staff member had failed to take our order than in solving the issue. The service was okay but could have been better, as no one checked on us after our meals were served. It seems like the staff could benefit from more positive training from a supportive mentor. When we asked for the bill, it took a while for it to be brought to us, so we ended up paying on the way out. It's a shame, as I had fond memories of the New Inn, but I am unlikely to return after this experience."
