"Stratton Audley isn't that easy to find, but well worth it if just for this absolutely gorgeous café! Even with a cut down menu (till October, when it will go back to its previous sumptuousness the food and service were above reproach. Amazing Italian gelato in at least ten flavours (probably more, I couldn't count! all the ones our party of four had were delicious. Great, homemade cakes in huge portions and really good panini, in various combinations of fillings The tuna melt and the mozzarella and tomato were our choices and came with salad and veggie crisps in their own individual cardboard boxes. We sat outside, in the sunshine (enjoy it while the end of summer is still here! and were served by friendly and efficient waitresses. Will certainly come back even all the way from London!"

We’ve visited twice in the last week, lovely spot on the edge of the village, good arrangements in place for social distancing, staff very pleasant, great selection of icecream flavours and fabulous cappuccino, card payment only at present

I've been here a few times for lunch and the salads are always surprising and delicious. I ahem always been impressed by their delicious ice creams (italian style gelatos I believe) and their coffee is great and a welcome stop for local cyclists.

Sitting here at the moment for a first time. Amazing place! Such a friendly stuff and amazing ice cream. Also very acceptable coffee, and by my standards that means a lot (coffee snob here so for normal people great coffee totally recommend to stop by and try yourself!

Visited for lunch on my birthday, we had toasted paninis and the tomato soup with bread and butter, which were all delicious. The service was excellent, and everyone one was very friendly. Had a browse around the Christmas shop, they have a lovely selection of Christmas decorations and ornaments. Well worth a visit!

Visited for the first time. Welcoming smile on arrival. Lovely atmosphere. Table Service. Coffee was just so good....great flavour and temperature just right. My husband had a lovely teacake and I had bakewell tart , both were delicious. Followed this with a browse round a small but perfectly formed shop with some great items and well priced. We shall definitely be returning!

Returning to Stratton Audley Barn after an enforced break due to major surgery, was pure joy. It was always going to be my first port of call. With it's warm welcome, delicious light meals, great atmosphere and truly lovely friendly staff,it never ever disappoints. We have been coming to The Barn for a number of years now, whether as a couple or with friends and family and it has to be our very favourite place, which we revisit time and time again. Currently their Christmas shop is a must, full of beautiful gifts, and unique decorations.

We called into Stratton for a coffee and decided to have breakfast. I had a bacon ciabatta and the bacon was excellent. However, my friend had mushrooms on sourdough toast (I’m not totally sure it was sourdough as the texture wasn’t what I would normally expect), when her breakfast turned up we were both shocked by how poor it was. The toast was so hard she struggled to cut it, and it was topped by some fried mushrooms, no garnish whatsoever. Now if this had cost £4 I think it would have been too much, but £7.50? This really took the edge off our visit and I have to say it will be a long time before we come back. This is such a shame as it’s a pretty cafe and the staff are friendly.

Firstly no menu available on the website which would have made a difference to my expectation. Arrived for breakfast and no breakfast available as they don 't have a chef ? Had a menu up on paper at the till and when wanted to order baked potato was then told not available until 12. (write that on the menu please) Ordered sausage sandwiches which said on the menu served with salad and crisps which were not on the plate. When queried was told they aren 't served with breakfast sandwiches. (again, write that on the menu) A wasted outing which was supposed to be a treat for my dad. The only good thing was the coffee. Felt sorry for the staff who had to tell a few customers about no breakfast. W...

"I’m frustrated and annoyed with booking a romantic meal for our year wedding anniversary, with the current pandemic and work commitments it made a change to make an effort and be excited to visit the boxing hare as the reviews had been excellent. We...were seated in the garden room, next to a family who were on first name terms with the waiting staff and who were so loud I thought I was at a Chelsea match! We received complimentary glasses of champagne and we placed our order for starters and main which were excellent however I felt rushed with the service, as much as I tried to have a conversation all I could hear was this family at decibels to which enough was enough usually I would say something, however rather than ruin there evening I asked for us to be reseated to which the waiting staff were in agreement that they were loud! So why place us next to them? We were given a table in a different part of the pub still busy with other diners giving respect to one another. The table given I was advised I had as it was reserved? I placed dessert order and two lattes with baileys followed by the bill! The bill was a tad on the steep side for a gastro pub perhaps the prices are based on the price of fuel to fill the owners Bentley Overall felt it was a rushed evening disappointed with the seating arrangements,I won’t be returning as I felt what was important to us wasn’t important to the Boxing Hare I’ve had better evenings at The Falkland Arms Great Tew, The Great Western Aynho"
