"Rude staff here. My elderly Mum and I popped in for coffee just before 3 last Friday afternoon. At no point did any of the three members of staff inform us the cafe would be closing less than half an hour later. Instead they happily brought menus to the table. Mum ordered a scone, complete with (unnecessary) condiments and a cappuccino and I ordered a cappuccino. Luckily we didn’t order a meal as we would have had to inhale it! As my Mum hadn’t finished her scone, I left her there while I nipped out to pick up my son from school. When I got back, she said the attitude from the female member of staff had not been too nice, the implication being she had overstayed her welcome. Well what do they expect when they serve customers food? They have to eat it! When I then mentioned to a male member of staff (owner maybe?)that the fact they were closing was not mentioned to us at any stage and especially at the point of ordering, he argued with me and was really very unpleasant. Then he closed the door on me. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired here. They are very happy to take your money but then rush you out the door. First and last visit here."

This small Cafe is friendly and does a very good Ulster Fry with all the traditional items present. The baked potatoes are also good.

The place is a quiet but very busy coffee shop that specialises in breakfast, lunch and dinner. It's a regular of mine to visit for breakfast and a place I'd recommend due to the friendliness of the employees and the quality of the food.

Excellent for breakfast, brunch or lunch!Consistently good wholesome home cooked food, great value, in a lovely cosy environment. The service is exceptional and at busy times they keep you updated on how your order is coming along. Have been here several times, with friends and family, and am never disappointed.

As a local, it’s a sad fact that this was my first visit to this little café. We found seats outside on an Indian summer afternoon and ordered lunch from the extensive menu. Wow!! First class. I should have photographed the presentation of our small meal but I didn’t expect to be so impressed. Keelan was very helpful and could not have been more attentive. I won’t have to venture any further for coffee or lunch in future. Thank you folks.

I ate here on Tue 20th Sept 22, and had a small fry. The meal was served promptly and with a nice cup of coffee. Standard of presentation was good and it was all served on quality IKEA crockery. Not just your ordinary white plates here!. Decor was nice with a Wood and Stone theme going on. Service was quick and efficient. Food tasted good and was of a good standard. Points to consider! When putting beans in a Microwave they can become (and were) boiling and would take the skin off your mouth. Secondly Mushrooms are a delicate vegetable, best not to power boil then in Oil when serving with food. Suggest using a little milk, water and butter.

Oh my word, what a find this was. Definitely by far the best Ulster fry in belfast by a country mile. My wife had the breakfast burrito which she commented on being very fresh, tasty really filling, I had their “big fry” which was such a relief to find somewhere that can still cook a proper fry make it to a very high standard. The decor Leads itself away from the hustle bustle of the manic traffic business of daily life, you will literally feel your body unwind, as your greeted by the friendliest staff that Northern Ireland used to be associated with many moons ago. We just arrived before before the rush around 12:30pm you could literally see people relax away from the outside world, a very...

"enjoyed our evening in james st it was the best culinary experience of our trip! we had been happy to see this evening as we had a few hit-N-seals in the course of our trip to belfast. we were not disappointed and had the fabulous evening. we were quickly welcomed and sitting. the place is beautiful and spacious. revitalized and environment. the bar is great and would like to come back, only for drinks at the bar sometime. we ordered cocktails immediately. an Irish gin negroni and a traditional old fashion. my neger was absolutely excellent. I think the old fashion could have been done with real sugar cubes and not sugar syrup, but it wasn't too bad. we were quick to choose our wein. we chose a beautiful juicy red, the cline, the old vine zinfandel, 2019. to begin we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli champ bread and some scallops with boar bell. the hanging-hock court was the best ham-hock I had. the homemade piccalilli was something else. really nice crispy and sharp sharp to help cut through the hammock and the champbrot was delicious crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. the scallops and black bells were disappointing, as they lacked no salt or genuine aroma or texture between them. we still ate it and shared the rest of my hammock. we both decided to go for the co. tyrone 270g fillet steak with sides of champ and truffle parmesan chips. red wine and pfeffer sauce. they were fantastic steaks. Actually, I didn't think I would finish mine, but I did. I have met the right choice with the jus and the truffle chips. they went so well together, the dryness of the parmesan and sweet, slightly greasy of the jus. the steaks were perfectly cooked. a medium and my medium rare. fantastic aroma on the grilled outside of the steak and beautiful texture when they pierce. we both agreed that the champ was the best champ we ever cost. it was hot, soft, so well aromatized with hot butter on the top of the copper serving pot melt. it was really the most incredible champ. I was too full of dessert. but my sample ordered the sticky toffee pudding sundae. the team was friendly enough to make me an espresso martini that was both decaf and not a sugar syrup. it was brilliant. we both managed to work our way, although a surprisingly light sticky toast desserts on Sunday. the team was fantastic. very friendly and chatting to us. the bar team did not stop, I had the pleasure of standing and watching them make a great selection of drinks and cocktails. the waiting staff were also very friendly when they check in with us at comfortable places to ensure that we were in order. we felt very well looked around. the service was very good, we didn't feel any hurry, it felt like such a free time in this restaurant. when we come back to belfast, we will be back in absolute terms and we will definitely recommend others. Thank you."

"I'm an American. I was invited to work at the queen’s university in a global conference. my airline has moved my baggage, so I stopped in the barking dog to use her wlan to check the status of my baggage and have a drink and a snack with my associate who has unusual allergies. the menu had nothing to call us, so we have decided to finish and move only our drinks./ at no point has anyone informed that it is illegal to have only drinks, and our server ran our review without mentioning any legal requirements. After I paid, someone who I suspect, the manager, came to the table and checked our reception. exactly what I thought was what they said before they cheated on me how it is illegal to buy drinks in a restaurant without eating. I apologised and explained that I had no warning. I offered to buy food retroactive and they refused. then they repeated that I was in a restaurant and not in a pub and that my activities were illegal. they denied my multiple attempts to apologise me while I explained that I am not out of the opposite. this experience was very confusing for me, because the night before me had drinks in a restaurant without food and it was no problem. in any case I was told that there is no such law and that the ordering of drinks without eating in a restaurant is very common. I've never been treated so badly in a customer service dynamic and I'm not sure why this happened. I feel targeted and totally mistreated for what does not seem to be a good reason. To finish it, it was my birthday. complete error in the name of what this person was. I will say the rest of the staff was very pleasant and accommodating."
