"Upon entering, I was surprised to find that we were the only customers at that hour, but it was early on a holiday weekend. Soon enough, a couple more tables filled up. What impressed me most about the menu was its authenticity; the dishes were genuinely Indian and categorized into vegetarian, non-vegetarian, North Indian, and South Indian options. The bread selection was also delightful, featuring Roti, Chapattis, Dosa, and Paratha, in addition to the usual Naan. They also offer a variety of Tiffin items and Biryanis, and thankfully, there was no mention of European dishes! Service was prompt, with our drink orders taken right away and the Poppadoms served quickly as appetizers. I chose the Chicken Pepper Fry, while my family ordered the Lamb Pathia and Chicken Pathia. To accompany our meal, we shared a Tandoori Roti, two portions of Jeera rice (one would have sufficed), and a Kerala Paratha filled with spiced potatoes. The food arrived in about 20 minutes, hot and beautifully presented on warmed plates. The portion sizes were definitely the largest I've encountered in any Indian restaurant. My only complaint was with the Poppadoms; they were rather average, and the accompanying sauces didn't impress—just some coarse chopped spiced onions, yogurt, and a mango 'jam' that was too thick. Compared to the quality of the mains, this initial offering didn’t really set our expectations high for the main courses. However, this was a minor issue, as it was just an appetizer after all, albeit one that could use some improvement. That said, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and even sampled each other’s main dishes. The tasty accompaniments for the breads were a lovely surprise and added greatly to the overall experience. This restaurant is a true gem, serving authentic Indian cuisine at a very reasonable price, complemented by excellent service. Three alcoholic drinks each, combined with our meals, brought the total to just over £70. Don’t let the restaurant's location in the Westhill Shopping Centre (opposite M&S Simply Food) deter you—this place is exceptional, and you won’t be disappointed!"

"When we arrived at The Village Hotel Aberdeen we were put in a lovely room with a super king size bed, lovely decor and it was lovely and clean. We stayed the first night in this room, the bed was extremely comfortable and a very good size. The problem was I have mobility difficulties and there was a bath in the bathroom. I went to reception to see if they could do anything, the staff were very friendly and helpful and changed our room to an accessible room. I really wish we hadn't changed room! The accessible room was awful! The bed was a small double and the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept on, I woke every hour through the night with back pain, as did my partner. The room decor was dingy and the carpet was stained, there were marks on the sheets and the TV was much smaller than the TV in the original room. Why does the accessible room not have the same standards as a normal room? I was appauled. They really should improve the standard of the accessible room, it is unfair that people that need to use these rooms have to compromise on comfort and luxury. On a positive note, the staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly, the breakfast and evening meal were very delicious, although quite expensive. The breakfast is a buffet style with lots of choice. The evening meals have a good size portion and are very yummy. There is limited room service available between 5pm and 9:30pm. The bar was well stocked, although some of the drinks on tap were not available because the pumps were broken. The bar prices are quite expensive... £10.60 for a pint of larger and a Jack Daniels with diet Coke. My overall opinion is that if you are staying in a standard king size room then I would recommend, but if you are staying in an accessible room avoid unless you want a bad back!"
