"I 've seen numerous mentions of the authenticity of Sam-Lor (the Thai word for bicycle), as close to a hole in the wall restaurant as one gets in generally-posh Geneva. Using my measure of authenticity (read: the best places I have been in Thai enclaves in the U.S. where I am also a distinct ethnic minority among the patrons), this place rates an A+ . It was also clear from the demeanor of the restaurant staff that they wanted you to feel as happy and peaceful as possible, notwithstanding their continually frenetic shuffling from table to table balancing dishes and drinks. There 's no question that the gentleness and warmth of my server added greatly to my enjoyment of the experience. I played it safe by ordering two of my regular favorites: Panang Chicken and Yum Woon Sen (glass noodle salad with prawn). In each case, Sam-Lor look the taste experience to a whole new level. The familiar ingredients burst with deep and redolent flavor, but I am convinced that it was the cooks ' tossing in more than a few subtle, undefinable sprinkles of magic that made it all come together so perfectly. Looking around the restaurant, I can safely say that most everyone was living their own version of my story. It is worth noting the rugged, marginally unsavory vibe in the surrounding Paquis neighborhood. Though it 's bustling with tourists and crawling with foodies looking for a fix in one of the area 's well-regarded ethnic hot-spots, I wouldn 't feel comfortable with the idea of my girlfriend venturing there unaccompanied after dark."

Went with a friend while on a day off... The lunch specials are incredibly affordable! We paid 18 CHF for an entree and main course. Loved the pannang curry! Staff was incredible kind and let us stay after lunch while we slowly ate and drank.

The Sumo salad is the absolute best. Comes with crab, lots of fresh lettuce and a delicious vinaigrette. Delicious. Most of the rest of the menu is simple grilled foods. Prawns were great but be aware that you peel them yourself, and you shouldn't be afraid of salt.

Ummmm- confused by the raves here. Very friendly staff served totally mediocre basics by standards of any US city I have been in . Place also covered in greasy restaurant dust. Dusty , dirty fake flowers ... Yuck. Don 't know standards for Thai food here, but I would say pass. View menu

A friend brought me here and WOW for authentic Thai dishes and fantastic service. I ordered the Pangang shrimp, instead of my usual Pad Thai (thats next week). I loved the dish and I tasted my friends fish green curry dish....flavorful, spicy, authentic. They do have daily specials which look like a good deal and nice portion. I think its the best Thai food I have eaten in Geneva for sure.

Very tasty food. We had the vegetables spring rolls and it was very tasty, we all enjoyed them. Then we had the Basil chicken and the Cashew chicken. Both were excellent. We had rice too. The servings of rice were really small, crazy small for what you pay for rice. Once again prices of things in Switzerland are crazy expensive. I forget how the rice was but it was something like 4sf for a tiny bit. But the food was good. Service was slow however.

The curry and tom yum is good. However, nothing exciting or extraordinary about this place. When I first enter, I thought I went to the wrong place. The decor has a very Indian feel to it. People didn't even speak Thai! The food are all very pricey. As I'm from New York and have tried Thai food in NY and in Thailand, the prices paid for the dishes ordered are way too overpriced with food tasting kind of bleh. Also, what kind of Thai restaurant doesn't have any Thai ice tea..?? View menu

Disappointing. The decor is great, and the staff were very courteous, thus the two stars. Unfortunately the food was unremarkable. It was the most expensive, least satisfying Thai meal I have ever had. I am Vegan, and I cannot recommend this restaurant to other Vegans or vegetarians. The have a total of three vegetarian menu options That 's it. I should have asked to see the menu before I sat down, had I would have walked out and gone else were to eat. It took about 2 minutes from the time the waiter took my order until my dish was brought to the table Wow that is fast! But it also means that the food was tasteless. I asked for the dis to be prepared very spicy , with lots of chili but it ha...

Of the two Thai restaurants that I've been to in Geneva, Sam Lor is the better one. It's slightly more tricky to find than Restaurant Thai, but the food is a lot more traditional. Again, introduced to this restaurant by a local colleague and have been in 2 3 times over the years. If it was easier to find and I was a little braver, then I might have been back more. The slight downside is that it's on the other side of Lake Geneva to the main city centre, and thus puts me off slightly to walk across the bridge and find my way around if I'm by myself. The food is lovely on my most recent visit, I had the spring rolls and the glass noodles (which come in this really cool pot over a candle! . If...
