"I recently had dinner at this restaurant and had a fantastic dining experience. The price per person was between £20 and £30, which I found to be very reasonable for the quality of food. The food was excellent, I would give it a 5 out of 5 rating. The service was also great, I would rate it a 4 out of 5. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lovely and welcoming, I would give it a 5 out of 5. I highly recommend trying the French Onion Soup and Moule Sauce Roquefort dishes, they were absolutely delicious."

"Our search for high quality restaurants in and around Orpington received a massive boost after our visit to Indian Essence. The exterior and location are rather unassuming but do not be fooled by that the quality of the food is exceptional, befitting the connection the restaurant has with Benares. The Daal Makhani and the Tandoori Murg dishes were particular favourites and the overall experience was enhanced by the complimentary amuse bouch. However, on the downside the restaurant was practically empty and lacked any atmosphere at all although this could be due to the post Xmas blues. "This is a really nice restaurant whose lunch menu provides great value for money. While it's not made clear on the lunch menu itself, you get both a starter and a main for £9. The portions were good sizes and we all thought it was really delicious and authentic tasting food. This is one place where we will definitely go to again. The ambience is nice and the waitstaff we had was attentive and friendly."

"A busy night because of a music gig nearby and I expect it caused extra pressure in the kitchen. Our starters arrived at very different times, but with an apology. My partners pasta was divine, as was the garlic bread and beetroot and goat cheese balls with chilli dip. Sadly my main was on a stone cold plate with cold broccoli and a little pot of cold sauce. The ‘roast’ baby potatoes were simply boiled new potatoes which had been flattened on a pan to blacken and burn them. Worst still they definitely tasted of fish, I expect that the same grill/implements were used for both. However the actual chicken Milinase was tender, crisp on the outside and very tasty. We had an issue with dessert. We followed the instructions and used the QR code to book the 2 desserts. To save time I paid the bill and added the tip. Unfortunately this closed our tables account and the kitchen had no record of the order. The app does not give you any chance to get a receipt and I was unable to easily prove we had paid. Except my Apple pay said that £102 had been deducted from my account. Eventually, while we were getting the issue sorted another waiter arrived with the missing desserts. I think the QR code idea is fabulous but it was a bit glitchy tonight."
