The Barley Mow - Menu

Wonderful setting, great menu and amazing food. I would highly recommend it for Lunch or Dinner. They do breakfast but I have not had it yet but I would imagine it's fantastic.

The food and drinks were amazing, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was nice. It's no surprise that it's always busy, as there is nothing to fault. I would highly recommend it.

I was very pleased with my visit to Barley Mow . Very cosy and welcoming environment. The staff were very friendly, offering a fantastic Costumer service . Kelly the new owner, came to introduce herself and made sure that we felt very comfortable. Overall great experience. I’ll be popping in more often

Popped in here for lunch with a friend Great little bar with restaurant and nice garden out the back. Dog friendly Really good friendly service We ordered olives, the filled jacket pots and the fish pie. Olives were great such a huge portion and with hot bread and olive and balsamic to dunk in well with the £4 My fish pie was lovely lots of fish inside creamy and tasty with lovely Al dente veg All good

We went to the restaurant on a Saturday in early September after booking the night before. The service was excellent - friendly, inclusive, helpful, knowledgeable, and very welcoming. There were seven of us (four adults, three kids) and the food was exceptional for all of us. The fish pie, fish and chips, and kids' meals were all fantastic. The chef's special, pork tenderloin with sriracha slaw, was the best pub food I have ever had. The portion size was generous and the cooking was great. We will definitely return.

We'd been looking forward to trying the Barley Mow for a long time. The building and decor is really nice and the menu looked great. £21 for a roast so was expecting a high standard, however it was very average. The food was luke warm, the potatoes were hard like they'd been made ages ago and just been kept warm. The gravy was tasty and the meat was tender but it really wasn't worth £21. Service wasn't good either. No one asked us how our meal was and it was hard to get anyone's attention as they were all standing around the till chatting. Wouldn't recommend this pub.

Looking at reviews, we visited this pub on Sunday afternoon to order Roast dinner. The roast was £21, so was expecting near perfect meal. The vegetables were delicious and plenty of them, but the roast potatoes were so tough I couldn't even cut with a knife, the Yorkshire pudding was ok. I told the waitress when she asked if all was ok and said that I felt that they were very hard to cut and eat, to which she kindly changed them, which came back less hard, but really not like fresh roast potatoes that you'd expect for £21. From the moment we walked in, our experience at The Barley Mow was truly delightful. Maria greeted us warmly and escorted us to our reserved table. A variety of menus were promptly brought to us by one of Maria’s efficient team members. We were offered a choice of olive bread, sourdough, or freshly baked baguette, served with homemade garlic butter sprinkled with crushed Himalayan rock salt. Something has gone very wrong here! Usually a good vibe and excellent food, sadly our latest trip was anything but. The waiting staff appeared harassed and the manageress had the sort of face on that stopped you wanting to ask for anything! She was in the midst of snapping at the chap behind the bar when we arrived, and we had to wait til this was over before he showed us to our table. Turns out there was no rush!
