Sunday lunch is amazing. Given our experience at lunch, we returned for dinner a couple of weeks later and were massively disappointed. Food took over an hour and wasn’t very warm when it arrived. Food drinks: Good Sunday lunch Service: 3 Location: 5

Taken here for a 2nd time by our good friends who run Frog Street for Sunday lunch, and blown away again! The service is polite and very friendly and the food is top quality, fantastically cooked. Local ingredients cooked well and plenty of it. If you’re passing I’d definitely recommend eating at The Bell Food drinks: Quality food, locally sourced and well cooked Service: 5

"We had been to this pub on several occasions over 3 months and were very pleased with the food and the attentive staff . On this particular day I ordered the Sunday roast beef but I couldn 't get my knife through the sinews of the meat and asked for a sharper knife but they didn 't have one. I left most of the meat because I couldn 't cut through it and when the waitress came to clear the table and she asked if we had enjoyed the meal I pointed out to her that the beef wasn 't very good as I couldn 't cut through it which meant I had eaten very little of it which she could see. The restaurant was very busy and I didn 't want to make any further complaint at the table but when I went to pay the lady manager asked me if I had enjoyed the meal and I told her about the beef to which she said the chef managed to tear it apart with his hands . She had an air of indifference and handed me the bill and said I had been the only person to have made a complaint. I enjoy my beef and would not have left it on the plate had it been palatable. She made me feel very uncomfortable, but begrudgingly said she would remove my meal from the bill. I told her I was upset with her attitude and because of her I would not be going to the 5 Dials again. They had every opportunity to ask if I would like something else or another piece of meat when I first said I couldn 't cut through it but they didn 't."

"Our first visit to The George Inn at Donyatt, we've drove by it time's going to other places and it always looks such a nice place. We decided to have lunchtime meal there to celebrate our anniversary and weren't disappointed, beamed ceilings, log burner and brick fireplace, farm tools and pictures on the walls cosy and oldie worldy with friendly locals just how we like our pubs. The staff and owner were really friendly, polite and chatted to us as if we locals from the village, the waitresses were smartly dressed, polite attentive always smiling, cheerful, charming and chatty. Even the chef nodded and smiled to us the couple of times he walked through and the bar and table areas were spotlessly clean. Our meals starters and mains were absolutely fantastic and amazing as was the presentation, they were hot good amounts of food with tender succulent meats and vegetables and the mashed potatoes were creamy smooth and light and have never had better. There's a good selection of beers and I had local ale which was amazing, clear, cool with a nice head and tasted like nectar. We will definitely be coming back soon and we can definitely recommend this pub, restaurant and hotel to family, friends, neighbours and anyone. A very big well done and thank you to the owners, all the staff especially the chef, please please please keep this pub the way it is, it's an absolute treasure and gem of a place to find. YOU ALL MADE OUR ANNIVERSARY VERY SPECIAL Especially in these times when a majority of local village pubs are closing down and being turned into houses or flats, we must all support our local village pubs like The George Inn."
