"We decided that following the easing of lockdown rules that we would go back to the bell as my last meal before going away with work for 7months, I almost wish we hadn’t bothered. We booked online but they didn’t get the confirmation and said when we called that they don’t book as there’s loads of room... Walked to the bar and stood whilst the bloke behind it typed away on his phone and then walked off, the girl running it then appeared and apologised, got us our drinks and took menus over to a table for us. Service was very slow it was as if she was running it on her own! The food itself wasn’t bad although there was no pizzas on or steak so the menu was fairly limited. The mains arrived before the starters had been cleared and then came without any cutlery. What I really objected to was the bar full of young lads staring as we went to the bar to pay and the guy behind the bar continuing to chat to his mates rather than serve us, eventually and quite rudely asked if we wanted drinks. Hugely disappointing experience and I will be spending my money supporting some of the better served pubs in the area. A pity, as we used to enjoy the bell inn."

Under new management. The beer is back to its excellent standard. The place is warm and inviting with excellent staff. We're so glad it's back to normal.

Have had mixed experiences here in the past, but it was faultless today. Three roasts- all different- were fabulous. The food was amazing. Service was perfect. Fire lit in the bar. It was really lovely.

Lovely pub garden. I went to this pub on a busy Sunday afternoon and although service was not the quickest, I can appreciate that the whole pub garden was full. We have roast dinners which were lovely. I would definitely visit again. View menu

Our roast dinners were a cut above the norm, but there is nothing pretenious or fancy about this little gem. We sat for hours enjoying the company of the lovely staff and locals, and the talented chef! Our favourite type of pub, loved it, will be back. Did I mention the food was fabulous?!

Well talk about false advertising the pub is nothing like the review on trip advisor, we rang and booked a table for two when we arrived all they were serving were pizza. The pub didn't look like it could serve the food on the site all I can think of is that this pub must have gone through a change of management. I would not take a dog in there to eat very pub not much restaurant. If you want a good beer this is ideal. But they should not advertise it's a restaurant when it clearly is not.

Lovely beer garden. Play area for the children. Free range chickens. Beautiful spot. Pizza for the children was honestly perfect. Red stripe on tap was great. Bad points. Service was pretty average. Mixed roast was an absolute let down. meat well under cooked including pork and well over priced for such a small meal. Small dish of vegetables to be shared between two people. Has potential to be a great pub. We will return as a family but we will stay away from the roast and stick with pizza next time. View menu

We met each other in this pub. We drank there regularly. We loved it, but we moved away. We returned recently. I don't understand how they can get things so wrong. A couple ordering food had to send it back as it was stone cold (it wasn't busy). The beer has always been amazing. Not now. Both the Adnams and Landlord were atrocious. Ended up drinking Carlsberg as the safest bet. Lovely to see a couple of old friends who told us about the new management. They haven't got a clue and it's really sad. I hope they get a grip soon.

Started off well as i booked online. Only to have no confirmation email, I called them to be told they don't use the online system. I booked a table. When we turned up for lunch, they didn't ask my name, we could sit anywhere and i didn't need to bother booking at all. On entering the garden, a man yelled at us to get our masks on; absolutely no idea if he worked there, scruffy man leaning against a shed. Garden looked like a gyspy camp, unlevel wobbly tables, lots of rubbish leaning up against the building. We waited 20 mins, no one came, not even a sighting of anyone so we left. The most strange experience. We won't be going back, it didn't feel safe for the children and it looked like eve...

"We used to go to the Green Man a lot under the previous owners and thought we would give it a try again for our wedding anniversary with our children. Bit of a mistake! You can see they are trying to improve the quality of the food, which was always good anyway but poor training and terrible service really let it down tonight. So we sat at 17:30 and it was 15 mins before we were offered drinks, not a massive deal. Food order another 10 mins. Both the kids ordered burgers so I specifically asked if there was mayonnaise in the burgers and if the coleslaw was separate and was told no mayo in burger and coleslaw separate. Starter sharing mezze was OK except only 2 bits of halloumi (for 4 people) and odd tasting sandy brown coloured olives. So the burgers turn up and have coleslaw chucked on the plate right on the burgers and mayo in the buns. So they went back and “replacements” came back from the kitchen very quickly which were the same burgers just in new buns with no mayo and the coleslaw in ramekins. Then the wife’s fish and chips. Looked nice and waited for service to offer condiments however seems we are being left alone now we said about the burgers. So she starts tucking in and finds a short dark black human hair on the plate. So that gets sent back. To be fair to the chef came out and apologised that he had not put his bandana on and unfortunately one of his hairs had fallen on the plate. OK forgive that once and say thank you for apologising. However it’s the same but if fish (as the wife had picked a bit off the end) and probably the same chips. Lovely. Then we totally get left alone. The kids were enjoying the burgers but slightly over salted and the water had run out so we thought get more water so they can finish and that someone would come near, which they did but to serve the tables around us and completely ignore us, even when trying to get attention. So in the end we get up (and could totally have walked out without paying and none of the staff would have been any the wiser) that’s not us though, so we paid. Told the chap at the bar that we had to come to the bar as we had been totally ignored (him being one of the many staff fawning over the people on the tables around us) and he just said OK handed the receipt. Now was the time for an apology, maybe even some sort of discount (which most places just do regardless) but no, nothing, no apology, no discount. Not bothered about the money So I paid in full and will be extremely unlikely to (read will never) set foot in the place again as there was no attempt at apology. Happy wedding anniversary! When you book there is a question “is it a special occasion” which we put yes it was our wedding anniversary and no acknowledgment so they obviously ignore those bits on the bookings. It felt like it was very clicky, like if you are known or are loaded you get looked after. Not a place for mere mortals."
