"Canterbury is the kind of place that’s primed for a pub crawl. And yet, locals and visitors alike tend to find a favourite and stick to it – like the Bishops Finger. The Bishops Finger is head and shoulders above the competition, one of the area’s most in-favour drinking holes thanks to a huge range of craft ales and great accompanying grub. In summer, the doors are flung open and punters spill on to the street. Staff are enthusiastic and eager to ensure if you have a great time. It’s small enough and busy enough to encourage table reservations."

Lovely pub in a good location. Good spread of local beers with a large beer garden.

Great traditional pub with lots of character, the new manager seems good too! Beer isn't half bad either.

Great English pub with friendly staff, nice food and live music nights. Plenty of outdoor seating as well. Highly recommended.

Great english pub feeling. Everything we had was tasty. Tables a bit in the sticky side. Welcome staff, I would surely go back again. View menu

Went in to watch the football on Saturday lunchtime. The team was friendly but long wait on food, which to be was fair was explained. The chicken sandwich I ordered wasn't great, ok, but £11.50 was expensive. Had better visits to this pub.

Called around 6 and was told the kitchen closes at 20:45, ordered at 20:30 and was told the chefs were leaving and the kitchen was closed and absolutely finished. Management told me I should have made a reservation. Classic miserable venue who’s only skill is pulling pints.

Really enjoyed it in here on Friday and Saturday. Food was tasty and well priced. The Guinness was good and has a banging selection of snacks. Loads of screen for the football and boxing. And the manager was really sound, seemed like he really cared, very friendly! Gets busy, and can see why. View menu

This place is handy for Canterbury West but feels tired and frankly didn't smell very good. Beers are ok but I'm not really a fan of shepherd neame beers. Still, 3 of us enjoyed sitting in the front window and there's also a garden out back. Bar staff very friendly and offered a taster which is always a good trait, thank you

Friendly atmosphere. Had a lovely cottage pie and chicken sandwich. Food quality and presentation was excellent. Very accommodating and friendly manager who put on state of origin game for home sick Aussies. Fantastic beer garden which also has screens for viewing. Would highly recommend this pub for people visiting Canterbury. Have visited this pub on 3 occasions during our stay in Canterbury. Has live music on Friday nights and lots of screens for sports.

"After never visiting Canterbury before we where looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, we came across this place which looked ok, upon entering the back room we were offered to take a seat in the front area and someone will be with us. We asked what food there was and we where sarcastically shown the food on the blackboard, after choosing what we wanted the polite man went off and put the order in. We did feel that because the man had asked a couple of questions to another member of staff that he was spoke down too a bit. Anyway after placing the order and what we wanted the food came out it wasn’t correct but because it seemed like we were going to interrupt the people in the back room we just took what we had. It was nice food though. When we went to pay we hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t a price list so when we asked for the bill we were told that it was donation, what we thought was enough, it wasn’t posted anywhere and it took us by surprise as we where standing at the till, I was going to pay in cash but was told they don’t take cash so I had to give my donation in card by telling the person how much we where donating. After plucking a figure out of air as we wasn’t prepared we paid and left. Upon leaving we felt that the person we paid thought we hadn’t paid enough and wasn’t happy with the amount but after working out what we would have paid properly we worked out that we had paid more than what it might have been if there was a proper price on everything. Overall it has a great ethos and it’s great for giving people the experience that they need to be in a working environment but they need to show the price or tell customers first that it’s donations and card only."
