"We visited the pub today after previously enjoying a lovely Sunday carvery a couple of weeks ago but what a disappointing lunch today. I had the sausage, mash and mushy peas and my husband had the cheeseburger and fries. My mash was clearly a dried potato mix and l cut actually cut it with my knife. The sausage was the cheapest sausage, possibly beef and had a strange taste. My husbands burger came as described cheeseburger but l think an odd lettuce leaf or a bit of burger sauce could have helped with this taste experience. The young man and ladies who run the pub cannot be faulted for their welcome approach and the pub itself has a lovely atmosphere especially when sitting in the bar by the fire but oh dear me please do something about the food. Just a few tweeks, a bit of butter and milk in the potatoes and a better quality sausage would have made such a difference to my meal. A bit of salad and burger sauce would have made the burger more palatable. We did feed back to the young man who served us but perhaps a bit of training on customer service wouldn't go amiss. We will try you again in the new year, here's hoping for a better experience."

Definitely worth a visit this is a must come to pub. We had a carvery which was excellent value: and the desserts are so reasonable.

Visited for a mid week bite last Wedensday with friends, it was superb, had a correctly cooked steak(medium rare) and the Southern Fried Chicken Strips were outstanding, well worth a visit !! View menu

we came today for the carvery and was disappointed we were with it, was expecting fresh veg and fresh potatoes not frozen , also a children's ice cream at 4.50 is excessive why not half the price and portion size and make things more affordable for everyone.... is the frozen veg a normal thing on the carvery now as if it is we won't be returning

I was dining with someone who requires gluten-free options, so we were limited to just ordering chips at this restaurant. It would be great if they could offer more gluten-free meal options and drinks such as beer or wine. Despite this, we still enjoyed our visit and hope that other Talbot motorhome visitors will have a great experience at the pub as well.

Went for sunday carvery. It was quite disappointing as we all was looking forward to a good honest sunday lunch on a very cold snowy day . Meat was nice . But frozen Yorkshire puddings , frozen parsnips, frozen roast potatoes. Just a shame when the pub is in the middle of farm land . This is my review and I'm sure many others would disagree with my comments but hey ho , View menu

Called in on the off chance on the way back from Bridgnorth , Were welcomed on entering and shown to the dining room; The waitress took our order for drinks and our meal choice. I had the beef carvery and my wife had the turkey. Both meals were delivered in a short time and they were both very tasty. Reasonable selection of well cooked vegetables and the whole meal hot and enjoyable, Good selection of drinks,

We visited for Sunday lunch and i would definitely recommend. It was lovely to see the Boycott back to being the cosy country pub we used to know. Very welcoming and staff really pleasant and attentive. Our carvery was excellent, a choice of beef, pork and gammon, a great choice of vegetables. I really couldn’t fault it at all. We will be making a return visit very soon. If you are in the area then take the time to visit. I wish the management and staff every success and thank you for such a pleasant end to the day.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
