"Have been going to this restaurant for a number of years and just love it. Always a warm and friendly welcome and excellent service. The atmosphere is very cosy and a roaring log fire greets you on colder days. The food is delicious and freshly prepared. There is always a good specials board in addition to the regular menu. Fish dishes are very tasty as are the pasta and meat choices. There is a very good wine list. Coffee is a speciality and not to be missed expertly prepared. This is a delightful venue whether for a meal for two, evening with friends and family or a larger celebration. Highly recommend a visit sorry I no longer live as close so can't eat there as regularly."

Disappointingley ordinary. They made little effort. Nice garlic prawns. Flavourless Lasagna in a cracked bowl. Nice ice cream.

Very welcoming and efficient service. Food was great and served quickly. It is possible to buy their own blend of coffee here-very good coffee understandably! We will be returning!

Friendly atmosphere. Knowledgable staff deliver a tasty range of authentic Italian cuisine just like mama used to make. After finding this little gem we'll definitely become regular patrons.

Not to be confused with the other Chequers on the Ampthill Road., the food here is far superior. Been here a few times so decided to take some friends. Three courses, wine, fresh coffee and liqueurs later they were as impressed as we have always been.

Service that's sharp friendly accommodating, The real golden point is the wholesome really tasty food, well prepared and cooked with real feeling to perfection and that's not said lightly. In our view there is not a pub restaurant to touch the great chef and surroundings. Home cooking Italian style, lovely relaxing setting and charm, deserts great, coffee the best and real ale always changing but always out of the top draw , so whats the down side, there is not one.

We began by grabbing drinks from the bar, which had a wide variety of beers, whisky, and gin, along with a selection of nuts. Since it was a lovely sunny evening, we decided to sit outside. The interior of the restaurant/pub had the typical ambiance you would expect. The staff was very accommodating in catering to our dietary restrictions by excluding certain ingredients from our dishes. The mackerel pate was delicious, as were both of the fish main courses. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.

During a visit to see family, we decided to celebrate my birthday at The Chequers restaurant. The party included three generations, including my ten-year-old granddaughter who was familiar with the restaurant and received fantastic attention from the staff, which she greatly appreciated. The food was exceptional, and I enjoyed a well-kept and delicious beer. Despite living close by, we had not visited in a while and were reminded of the restaurant's quality and the enjoyable experience it provides. Overall, it is a great place to dine.

Xmas Cracker We consider the Chequers the best, quiet dinning by the open fire, Quality food prepared by the chief who clearly cares. Should you choose the bruschetta starter with the chutney and delicate taste, homemade lasagne for main, you will not be disappointed, or prawn cocktail, with a steak perfectly cooked potatoes and freshly cooked green beans with a firm texture, traditional, you will want to linger over a very very good meal. Not forgetting the real ale barrel, try that for sure. We give this great pub restaurant, and staff a well-deserved 5, based on taste quality and value with comfortable surroundings.
