"I deleted my original review as it only mentioned my wife and I. Usually it is just the two of us, who frequent the establishment, but this time there was six of us, a family. We range from 16 years old to an excess of 70 years old. I can only say that we all enjoyed it and we would all recommend it. We had decided to try the Christmas day lunch as previous attempts in other local establishments had let us down so badly. This lunch was offered at a very good price, the food was plentiful, and more importantly, well prepared and very tasty. Full marks to the full team! Tanya at front of house was exceptional and I believe that Vicky and Dave in the kitchen prepared a fantastic meal almost too much to eat. Should they decide to do this again next year I can assure you that we will be back ! It was an enjoyable lunch, and there is no way that we can fault the service, the front of house ran everything so smoothly. Well done to the Colcott Arms on this occasion"

The food and service here is always spot on. It’s been years since a decent affordable pub meal could be enjoyed in Barry. It’s not a hot and miss either, my family have been at random times on random days and it’s always been faultless View menu

Although we have been a few times we have found our food would have been a lot nicer if served on hot plates and not cold ones as you have to eat quicker so it doesn’t get cold I would never serve hot food on cold plates Perhaps this is something you can rectify, as it doesn’t take much effort to heat a plate.

We like to consider ourselves as regulars now, visiting each week. Im a creature of habit and always order the surf turf; Vicky ALWAYS cooks my steak perfectly. It comes out on a hot sizzler plate, so sometimes it’s hard to judge how the steak will come out, however I’ve noticed Vicky must take this into consideration as it’s as I said, always perfectly cooked. As much as I love seeing her at the bar, I get sad when I don’t see her in her whites! Haha! I definitely recommend the steak, always a really nice flavour, nice cut and good value for money.

"I raved about this place in my last review but since then it appears to have changed. Firstly, I cant remember the chairs being so uncomfortable that they had 'scatter ' cushions for you to use if you needed to. Having had back surgery, they made it even worse for me, so did without them in the most uncomfortable chair ever. Now, to the main part of the review. The lovely cakes that I had raved about had disappeared to be replaced by a sorry looking load of bog standard cake. The poor girl who served us was nervous as it was her first day, we ordered pecan pie which came with cream, we asked if its pouring or thick, she had to ask, it was pouring so we asked if we could have ice cream instead, she had to ask. Anyway, we finally ordered our cake and coffee. When she brought the coffee, she spilled half of mine in the saucer and then asked if I wanted a different saucer....duh! she took the offending saucer and the spoon brought a saucer back, no extra serviette to wipe the bottom of the cup and NO SPOON! We were then served the cake and ice cream, which to be fair, was nice, until, halfway through I saw a hair on my friends plate, (she was not wearing her glasses). We knew instantly that it was not either of ours, I have shoulder length hair and her hair was in a bun! We called the poor young lady over and pointed it out, she asked if my friend wanted to change it...duh! Of course she did, she brought another and thankfully my friend shared it with me! The coffee was (flat white) was nice but after that catalogue of events I wont be going back. They do offer a range of snacks/lunches and people did seem to be enjoying them."
