"Lovely welcome, owner very accommodating, moving a table so we had easier access. All staff made sure that everything was satisfactory. The food was lovely. Lots of gluten free on the menu. Salad even had apples and grapes in it. Pasty, hot and lots of filling. Latte coffees were lovely. The hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows were almost like a meal in themselves. The cakes and pies for desserts were to die for. (Think I need to go on a diet now! All in all a fantastic place to go. We will definitely be back. Thank you. X"

This is a lovely tea shop. We had an amazing savoury tea and the cheese scones were to die for. The gentleman serving was also lovely.

A lovely traditional café with delicious sandwiches (we had fresh crab) and homemade cakes and scones. Attentive service. You can eat inside at pretty tables or outside u see umbrellas.

Great waitress smiled at me and my friend kept asking the questions you ask in a cafe like what nuts are in the cakes. Is the gluten free cream tea gluten free? Overall great experience

Entering this restaurant feels like taking a trip back in time to grandma's cozy parlor. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. We were served delicious food, a comforting pot of tea, and a freshly baked scone that was simply delightful. View menu

The best cream tea I have ever had. The scones were warm and fresh and the cream thick. The food and drinks were served in beautiful and delicate china. The interior was antique and lovely. The staff were kind and humorous. Would definitely one back again.

We were so pleased to happen upon this delightful good, old-fashioned, value for money tea room; we received a lovely warm welcome from Tony and his colleague; nothing too much trouble. Delicious crab sandwich, scone and tea. All freshly prepared. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

What a lovely tearoom. The owner is a very friendly and helpful gentleman who goes out of his way to make it a wonderful experience. The young lady assisting him was also very friendly. The food was fantastic. Lovely sandwiches, scones, tea and coffee. Highly recommend a visit. I’ll definitely return. View menu

We stopped here for coffee and toasted crumpet on a brief visit to Budleigh. As the weather was sunny and warm we were able to sit outside. The girl who served us was friendly and efficient and our coffees snd crumpets were excellent. When my husband went in to pay, he met the owner and spent some time chatting! Would definitely recommend.

I would not recommend this restaurant if you are a cyclist. Today, my friends and I witnessed a couple of cyclists being turned away even though there was clearly an empty table right next to them. Another couple walked in behind the cyclists and were also told there were no tables available, only to be seated at the empty table moments later. The sandwiches we ordered were just okay. It's a shame to see this kind of discrimination towards tourists. Good luck to this restaurant dealing with such bias.

"We had two dinners and breakfast from this restaurant because we stayed in the Home Farm Hotel. We wanted to have the dinner and breakfast during our stay, but had to cancel our plans due to VERY POOR customer service received from Richard and also...because of his wife's cooking due to overcooked and burned full cook breakfast we received from the restaurant. Day 1, Richard introduced his wife to us, but she totally ignored us and in addition, she did not even bother to acknowledged and smiled with us. She seems to be very upset or very distance from everything or stressed/fed up about something at the time. Not sure this was due to over working… Day 1, Richard requested us to come down stairs for the dinner at 18:00, but instead of taking us to the restaurant for dinner, he tried his best to hard sell the alcohols he had in the bar to us and also to all the other guests. This happened even after we told him several times that we only want the meal and no alcohol from his bar. After about two hours, I had to tell him that I’m a diabetic and heart patient therefore I do really want to eat the meal and have a rest. He gave us the menu and I asked for lamb which was on the menu and he went crazy and said to us that they do not provide English food in this restaurant. I showed him what was on the menu, but he did not even apologise to us. He said lamb run out and asked us to select something else from the menu, again we selected duck, but that was run out as well!!! By then, Richard was sarcastic and rude to us as well as to other guests… In the end, we asked what we can have for our dinner. He almost shouted at us saying he and his wife only there to run the hotel without any staff therefore, we have to eat whatever his wife can cook!!! Finally, at about 21:00, we managed to have our dinner and I asked Richard to cancel our breakfast and dinner booking for the rest of the days however, he said we have to take the breakfast for next day because it was too late to cancel it. Next morning (Day 2), we were near the restaurant since 08:00 as Richard requested but as usual, past 09:00 we received burnt and overcooked full breakfast for two of us. They had a very large menu but it seems like most of the food either his wife did not know how to cook or had run out. Richard charged full price for our meals, BUT he FORGOT to provide the good quality food and services to the customers…"
