"We were asked to move as soon as we sat down, my green tea was served in a mug and was stewed by the time it arrived. When my husband asked for a brown sugar for his coffee the Waitress produced one packet of white sugar from a pocket in her apron. Meanwhile the couple on the next table sent their coffees and milk back as the milk had gone off, when they had fresh coffee given the lady said to her husband , the milk jug is filthy and picked off crusty bits of something off the rim. This put me off my food before it arrived. When it came, the breakfast was ok but this is not somewhere we will be returning to. A shame as we used to love coming here before it was taken over."

Great food and kudos to the staff for helping us narrow down the menu for my wife’s various food intolerances. Highly recommended!

For any visit, Zest ticks all the boxes. The staff are very friendly, helpful and good at their jobs, they serve an excellent breakfast and a full range of lovely coffee. As the menu shows, prices are also very reasonable.

What a find. First time at this cafe it will not be our last. We had homemade cheese onion pie, salad chips and it was delicious and filling, the premises were lovely clean and the staff really nice. Prices very reasonable, what a Gem.

I recently found out that I have Coeliac Disease, which means that gluten is harmful to my digestive system. This was my first time ordering gluten-free food at a restaurant and I am happy to report that Zest did a great job. My wife and I both enjoyed a delicious bacon and Brie toasted sandwich with a side of salad and gluten-free crisps. The portion size was generous and the food was tasty. Well done, Zest! View menu

It was a lovely breakfast as you can tell from photo. Only issues were tomatoes were very acidic almost like they were on the turn and the waitresses forgot the extra hash brown for my mum. No sauces weren't offered or salt pepper we had to ask. When when we asked for another pot of boiling water it was like warm . Lovely produce though and nice music being played even outside so it was a nice atmosphere. Overall very good food though

My visit to this café in early July was excellent. We were warmly welcomed by the friendly staff and our order was taken quickly by a young waitress. The coffee was delicious and the homemade food was tasty. However, when we returned last week, we were disappointed. It took a while for our order to be taken and the waitress seemed unfamiliar with using the coffee machine, resulting in weak cappuccinos. The service was not as friendly, and the food was bland, with the mash tasting like it came from a box. It seems that there has been staff turnover and inadequate training for new members, which is unfortunate as we had hoped to make this café a regular stop in Honiton.

"We had two dinners and breakfast from this restaurant because we stayed in the Home Farm Hotel. We wanted to have the dinner and breakfast during our stay, but had to cancel our plans due to VERY POOR customer service received from Richard and also...because of his wife's cooking due to overcooked and burned full cook breakfast we received from the restaurant. Day 1, Richard introduced his wife to us, but she totally ignored us and in addition, she did not even bother to acknowledged and smiled with us. She seems to be very upset or very distance from everything or stressed/fed up about something at the time. Not sure this was due to over working… Day 1, Richard requested us to come down stairs for the dinner at 18:00, but instead of taking us to the restaurant for dinner, he tried his best to hard sell the alcohols he had in the bar to us and also to all the other guests. This happened even after we told him several times that we only want the meal and no alcohol from his bar. After about two hours, I had to tell him that I’m a diabetic and heart patient therefore I do really want to eat the meal and have a rest. He gave us the menu and I asked for lamb which was on the menu and he went crazy and said to us that they do not provide English food in this restaurant. I showed him what was on the menu, but he did not even apologise to us. He said lamb run out and asked us to select something else from the menu, again we selected duck, but that was run out as well!!! By then, Richard was sarcastic and rude to us as well as to other guests… In the end, we asked what we can have for our dinner. He almost shouted at us saying he and his wife only there to run the hotel without any staff therefore, we have to eat whatever his wife can cook!!! Finally, at about 21:00, we managed to have our dinner and I asked Richard to cancel our breakfast and dinner booking for the rest of the days however, he said we have to take the breakfast for next day because it was too late to cancel it. Next morning (Day 2), we were near the restaurant since 08:00 as Richard requested but as usual, past 09:00 we received burnt and overcooked full breakfast for two of us. They had a very large menu but it seems like most of the food either his wife did not know how to cook or had run out. Richard charged full price for our meals, BUT he FORGOT to provide the good quality food and services to the customers…"
