"I went to the Cracking Crab twice during the Easter holidays. Both times I had my two children (5 and 8 with me. The first visit was just me and them and the second time I also had two friends with me. The setting is just beautiful. We sat right next to the window on our first visit and saw the sun go down. On our second visit we were in one of the booths but still could see the view of the beach very well. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and make my children and I feel very welcome. We try and book the earliest table we can for dinner when we have the kids with us to avoid tiredness (the children! and enhance the experience for all of us. I have also been lucky enough to go sans children with my husband on a few occasions and have had some lovely, intimate dinners at table number 1! I love seafood and wine and both are very good here. Can't wait to go back in the summer!"

It was a great meal, but VERY expensive for a beachside cafe.

The restaurant was bustling with activity and loud. The service was slower than normal, however, the staff remained friendly as always.

Down for a week in polzeath again... we decided to eat out at the cracking crab ,it's setting is superb, sky ,sea, and surf !all that was missing was the sun !!,but that's Cornwall for you .its decor is relaxed colour full and friendly .we had popcorn shrimps to start ,then a casulet of scallops beans and chorizo, for me ,hake for him. The food is good but not cheap ,we had a great meal then walked down the cliff path back to polzeath beach . Will go again

We had a fantastic time celebrating a birthday dinner at this restaurant and cannot wait to return. We were able to park for free on the beach after 4pm and easily followed the signs along the coastal path, which was only a 5-minute flat walk. The atmosphere at The Cracking Crab was fun and laid back, and the decor reminded us of the crab shacks we visited in San Francisco. The food was delicious and plentiful, and the service was just right - not rushed at all. This restaurant has become our new favorite spot, so make sure to check it out if you can.

Unfortunately this wasn't the best experience we have had. Having eaten here on a few occasions we thought it would be nice to take some friends but truthfully none of us were overly impressed. The food was very disappointing and the price tag was the same as Rick Steins seafood restaurant which was beyond superior in every way! My husband had to return his plate of soggy duck fat (supposedly a duck curry) which was replaced but by which time his appetite was gone. The menu was overpriced and we won't be rushing back which is a real shame as the venue is amazing.

Took two friends out for a treat not knowing what to expect. Poor start as had to pay £4 to park, greeted well and surprised by the decor, which is a glorified cafe and sat in uncomfortable chairs and ordered drinks which were extortionate but looked forward to our meals. This was also a great disappointment, although tasted nice but meagre portions for the price, especially as we shared a small dish of vegetables for four. My dessert was a chocolate orange cheese cake with alcohol in a tiny glass jar priced £6.95, this was merely a biscuit base with whipped cream of no flavour topped with Chocolate sauce. The prices are Al A Carte without the experience, we are locals and we'll never go bac...
