"I used to really like Skylon it was somewhere you took someone for a special treat a real destination. But times have changed, there is so much more competition around I can’t help feeling that Skylon has faded a little. It still has potential; it still could be great, but on this occasion, it fell short of the mark. Maybe it was just the January blues, or maybe because most people were probably dining on the ES offer menu, but the staff seemed tired and lacking in energy, food service was very slow, and little touches were missing (for example, water wasn’t topped up, and even when we asked, it took over 10 minutes). Our starters were nice almost worth waiting for! and it felt like the mains could have been nice they were well cooked, and generous with ingredients, but all incredibly salty especially the risotto. Such a shame, because this really let it down I managed to eat around half (alongside some bread to offset the saltiness), but then gave up. I hate food waste, so asked if I could take away the rest (a small spoonful with some salad would have done us for lunch the next day). But apparently this is not possible at Skylon... this also shocked me... I’ve not encountered anywhere for a long time which wouldn’t accommodate a “doggy bag” (occasionally places have charged for a box, or occasionally the packaging has been a little makeshift, but people have always been happy to help). As a venue, it’s still nice has a great view, so with a bit of a shake up could be great again, but I won’t go back unless I hear that things have changed."

"Visited for Sunday lunch with our family who had stayed with us over the weekend on their road journey up to Scotland to visit my son in law's parents. They were as impressed with the Yellow Broom as we have always been on previous visits. The ambiance was just right and the food delicious we all look forward to our next visit."

"Been here for breakfast many times but never for dinner before. Atmosphere was as expected, the place has a shabby elegance of bygone days. We were very lucky and sat on a table in the window with wonderful views of the lead and the sea. There were a number of vegetarian choices that weren’t the usual pasta or risotto. Some thought had been put in to them. I would say that a few “tweaks” were needed with my choice of halloumichipsonion rings, mainly being a longer cooking time for the chips and halloumi. Partners steak was good evidently. Service was very good. Overall a pleasant evening that is good value. We would return"

"I can't give this place a lower score. booked, only to say when we arrived that they have “not enough portions” for us, much less space us. extremely bad, bad circumnavigation with the situation and zero offer of everything to compensate for the inconvenience of our group. I would never recommend it. do not book this restaurant, they will be roulette of actually eating or being turned away. just not good enough."

"the new restaurant was recommended by a friend. last week to lunch, a party of 5 and was not disappointed. the location is beautiful with a lot of history on the website and it is surrounding business and more from what I collect. the building has great character with some interesting original features that decorate it. a place for relaxed social dining I recommend. the staff was very pleasant and the service was good. the time between each curs was precise and didn't feel rushed in any way. the presentation of eating was great, beautifully presented portions of very good quality eating. I had de-starter, best that I had very delicate, and the lamb was only lambfantastic! my dessert, lemon zitruskuchen, just finished the entire eating experience there brilliant. they have a beautiful outdoor garden on the back with good sitting and sun umbrellas. will soon be back to try out the new menu! it changes regularly, which is great news."

"lovely place for tea in the summer, but was very cold and would not go again in the winter. Very sad that after our tea we wanted further drinks in the lounge area but service was very poor even though we had made it known we were retiring to the lounge further refreshments. The member of staff did not seem to know about any of the drinks at the bar area nor was he prepared to go and get a member of staff to assist. Very poor even thought the Tea was value for money."

"It was a very comfortable, relaxing, safe and enjoyable experience. Even in a pandemic, Brickyard follows the guidelines and has many seating options with space around you. The food is always 10/10 and a great variety of craft beers on tap, with great cocktails too. If you enjoy the beer or cocktail, you can buy some growlers to go. The Pornstar Martini is my favorite because it’s not so sweet it makes your teeth hurt like other places. You can just sit back and enjoy it and take a double to go home . The Service is always friendly, honest and prompt. We enjoy their brunches too their Mimosa is out of this world and Bailey Lattes hit the spot. For this holiday season, I’m loving their Christmas Sando and their Korean Pancakes are always a staple with our family and group of friends. The Burgers are tasty too they even have a Vegan Burger my vegan friends love. The Chicken wings are yummy in the tummy with all of the variety of flavors tickling your tastebuds and Vegan friendly options of “cauliflower wings” so you can get something tasty. If you like real American hot spicy Brickyard has unlocked this formula and know how to do it well while not destroy the taste of the food. Again Brickyard’s food is 10/10"

"Absolutely awful!. So my boss is going off on maternity leave and we decide to have lunch for 10 at Plateau on a £15 deal for 3 courses which sounded like good value. Our booking was at 1pm and we arrived to have a choice of 3 starters 2 of which were salad and 1 soup and 3 mains. We were told on arrival they had run out of steak despite our booking being at lunch time so I decided to have a salad as a main instead! the starter arrive and the salads were not looking fresh! Brown lettuce, over dressed euuggh, although I had the gazpaucho which was good, I decided to change my main to the fish! Service was awful we weren't offered any drinks and then finally asked for a wine...read more"

"eating here was good, but everything else wasn't great. my friends recommended this place, but I wouldn't go back. we reserved a table, we came down when I put the chair was completely broken. ordered hot drinks and service was prompt. tee came, but the mug was dirty with mark, so I sent that back and it was kindly replaced. we ordered our food, but after 45 minutes waiting for two meals we have the waitress down, which said that the order had not gone through the kitchen originally so prepared. I ordered eier benedikt and when it arrived, there were no Hollandaise sauce in sight, so they went to the kitchen to get some on the side. we ordered a second round hot drinks that I thought they could look into the problems with the service, but they don't offer. all very chaotic and disorganized and it was not even so busy and then beat them 12.5% service fee."

"We were given 2 options of dinner 6 or 8 We chose 6 A bit early but I’d rather eat earlier than later We arrived at 5.45 and walked in on a very wet and windy day We approached the staff and told them that we arrived Immediately we’re told you need to vacate the table at 7.30 As the table was booked again Most annoying I don’t like being told how quickly we need to eat Anyway not needed because the speed at we we were served was incredible This was our 2nd visit to TWP and our last visit 2years ago was delightful Ok it was August bank holiday and the weather was better but now hint of being hurried along However the food was good and we were out and on our way by 7.15 Note to staff Don’t drill your customers about time limitations It’s not good for the digestion or for your reviews on places like this Probably wouldn’t come again in a hurry"

"Our tenth dinner visit this year to this remarkable restaurant. The food is at least the equal of many better known, self- publicising, table crowded Cornish restaurants ,some of whom, ludicrously, seem to hold themselves in some sort of hushed awe, with the expectation that you should consider yourself privileged to be allowed to be there ! This restaurant is a delightful, thoughtful, unassuming contrast, and a delight in every way. The service is lovely young, energetic, charming, attentive without intrusion and wonderful with young children. The location is unequalled a cliff siding with uninterrupted panoramic views over Polzeath beach and National Trust cliffs, farm and headland. The atmosphere, unusually for most restaurants, is one of happiness, and is mercifully free from the tiresome, loud , self promoting clientele that infests so many. Children love this place , so go early if you like the sound of children's laughter, and a bit later if you want a more sedate atmosphere . Either way, this restaurant is wonderful in every way."

"The atmosphere is lovely and the view is beautiful, the staff is friendly. The cocktails are good and in a normal price The only thing we did not like is the food. Especially for a French restaurant which should have much better food than other restaurants. The food was tasteless and uncooked properly. The salmon was a bit raw. The risotto did not look fresh and it was uncooked. The asparagus was raw which doesn’t taste good at all. If we decide to go again, it will only be for drinks cocktails and enjoying the view. Not for dinner. Overall we paid for two people, two course menu with nibbles and a cocktail each. This is a reasonable price but it would have been better if the food was nice."
"I went to the restaurant with my colleagues for some drinks and bar snacks, and we all had a great time. I ordered two glasses of the "Healthy Soul" non-alcoholic cocktail and really enjoyed it."

"I went to the Cracking Crab twice during the Easter holidays. Both times I had my two children (5 and 8 with me. The first visit was just me and them and the second time I also had two friends with me. The setting is just beautiful. We sat right next to the window on our first visit and saw the sun go down. On our second visit we were in one of the booths but still could see the view of the beach very well. The staff are always very friendly and helpful and make my children and I feel very welcome. We try and book the earliest table we can for dinner when we have the kids with us to avoid tiredness (the children! and enhance the experience for all of us. I have also been lucky enough to go sans children with my husband on a few occasions and have had some lovely, intimate dinners at table number 1! I love seafood and wine and both are very good here. Can't wait to go back in the summer!"

"Took the family who isn’t from the area here for a Sunday lunch. Starters were inventive and Devine. Our table ordered a mix of chicken, beef and pork Sunday lunches all were exceptional, the pork (which I didn’t order) was delicious and I’ll definitely be ordering that next time. The apple crumble was so tasty and a perfect way to finish off a delicious Sunday lunch. The servers were attentive and friendly, also perfect timings which is something a lot of places get wrong- starters came out after we had all the first glass of wine. The roasts came out about 20-30 mins later and then after we had ordered desserts it was another 15/20 mins. So perfectly balanced timings to have a nice relaxing Sunday lunch. It’s not the cheapest around, but if it’s an occasion or you need a guaranteed good meal then The Black Lion is the place to book."

"I gave 5 stars for food because we love Nude Beach and we eat there quite often. Unfortunately, after online booking for 3pm we were not informed that the food is not served after 3pm. As we walked for 30 min to Nude Beach with a small child we were 7min late online info 15 min allowed) and we were told the kitchen is closed. Bit upsetting. I asked why nobody bothered to give us a curtesy call to inform that kitchen is closed at the time of our booking and we were informed they did not see our booking. Left bit confused... hope our next visit will be better. Please can you improve communication, food serving hours on websites. Anyway... I understand how busy you became."
