"The Black Lion is a very nice pub with rooms. My room was very comfortable large with a full size bath and seperate shower. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful. I only ate breakfasts there as there wasn't enough choice for vegetarians on the dinner menu but the breakfasts were all cooked to order and of very high standard. The Black Lion is at one end of Long Melford and within a few minutes walk of the Holy Trinity Church, Melford Hall and Kentwell Hall. The walk into the main part of town is less than 10 minutes. Hope to stay again. Walkability: Some lovely walks nearby. Even the walk from the hotel to the other end of Long Melford is very pleasant."

I just called to book a one-night stay for a business trip and spoke to a young lady on the phone. I found her tone to be abrupt and quite rude. As a result, I will not be making a reservation here anytime soon. – Robby Service: 1

Charming pub with fantastic food, and the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The room was very nice, but they definitely need to install some privacy glass on the large window right in front of the toilet. It was a hassle to keep pulling the blind up and down, which is a simple fix. Rooms: 4, Service: 5, Location: 4.

The restaurant lacked atmosphere. It needed softer lighting and light music in the background. The decor was nice but the chairs were uncomfortable. I would only rate the service as excellent. Staff were lovely. But that’s not enough for me to return at present until the main courses are more substantial to accompany their high price View menu

We really enjoyed our two night stay at the Black Lion. It could not have been more welcoming and dog friendly. Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated but also had bed, bowls and treats ready for the dog. Moreover we thought the food was excellent which on top of the beautiful location made for a memorable short break. Nearby activities: Opposite Long Melford Hall, National Trust, walks, magnificent historic churches and beautiful villages nearby

This hotel has class written all over it. The staff are both professional and very friendly, the food was excellent and the room, although snug, was really very well appointed and had everything needed for a very comfortable stay. Our dog Monti also gives its 5 woofs! Just a very small suggestion. The mirrors in the bedroom are all dark, as the lights in the room do not seem to cover them. This meant that we needed to use the mirror in the bathroom for anything that needed close up attention. It might be a good idea to put a small light above the long mirror in the bedroom.

"To the wonderful owner and staff at Strawberry Teapot, My story starts with a trip planned to this cafe with my mum for her birthday, and will hopefully help to reassure other wheelchair/powerchair reliant customers : Accessibility: The owner had a conversation with us to tell us about their accessibility (there is a step at the front of the store, but access to the outdoor seating behind the cafe without steps . I use a powerchair, which can't, unfortunately, be lifted up with the help of others, but other smaller wheelchairs will still be able to be lifted up past the step on the front door. Despite this powerchair hurdle, we sat outdoors, which was beautifully arranged with summer plants. Food Allergies/ Dietary requirements: My family is a mix of vegetarian, vegan, and meat eater people, which was no problem at all to the staff at the Strawberry Teapot! We had booked in for an afternoon tea and were served three separate food servings (a three tier cake stand per person , filled with sandwiches, cake, scones, and biscuits. These were delectable, and we were even allowed to take the cakes we didn't eat home with us (they were too good to leave behind! . Overall, we had an absolutely wonderful time and will not hesitate to book again. If I could, I would fetch fresh scones every weekend (they were THAT good . Thank you to all the staff there that helped to make the afternoon tea special, you are all wonderful people, and I have no doubt that you will make every other customer's experience just as wonderful. Couldn't recommend highly enough."
