fantastic old building but the decor very dated and the shower just dribbled. Didn't sleep very well as the floors obviously creaked and noise travelled very easily from other guests. The staff were all amazing and breakfast was good.

The atmosphere and surroundings are wonderful. The food was excellent and the price very reasonable. I pay more for rubbish in Exeter. Good to get to get quality food and service. Nice to meet you David and the staff. Beautiful people.

We hosted my mom's wake at The Cross Keys. The food was fantastic and the staff was very accommodating. Since then, my dad and I have been having lunch there regularly. The meals are always served hot and in generous portions. I would highly recommend The Cross Keys.

We stayed at this restaurant for three nights and it was our second time there because we love it so much. We always stay here when we visit family and friends. On Wednesday and Thursday nights, they have steak specials where you can get a perfectly cooked ribeye steak for only £11.95. Friday nights are curry nights and the meal was mouthwatering and perfectly cooked. The breakfast we had was the best we've had in a long time. We wouldn't want to stay or eat anywhere else because the food and service were that amazing.

We came to the Cross Keys on Tuesday for dinner and drinks with friends. From start to finish the experience was fantastic. What a lovely find, clean.. quirky, great selection of drinks and the bar manager who could not do enough for us with a great sense of humor too! I wish their were more places with such genuine people, who are genuinely interested in what the customers want! We will be back without a shadow of a doubt, food was fabulous. We decided to try this restaurant based on a recommendation, and it certainly lived up to our expectations. As soon as we walked in, it felt like they knew us by name, which was quite impressive. We had made a reservation, and the staff made sure to inquire about any allergies or dietary restrictions, which was a nice touch. We were seated promptly, and the attention to detail was impeccable. We had the pleasure of speaking with the owners, who had a great sense of humor and made us feel very comfortable. I’ve spent a few nights here and have been able to experience an amazing old England atmosphere whilst being surrounded by kind and welcoming people.. the owners are very family oriented and adoring people, who enjoy the old England history and artefacts, as reflected inside the hotel walls. Wherever you eyes take you, you’re bound to find historical pieces and art.. the overall structure of the building also very well reflects the historical aspect of old England. I have stayed here 3 times in the last couple of weeks for work puposes and i have to say it is one of the best experiences in a very long time. From entry to exit, i have found the staff, the owners and the regulars all extremely knowledgable and took an instant liking to the style and flair of the establishment. They have some of the best real ales I have ever tasted and cannot fault the blonde Legacy (along with Norfok Gem and Doombar). The selection of drinks, champagnes, wines and spirits is incredible! A very traditional and sympathetic building but there is more, a lot more. We stayed for a weekend after choosing somewhere south of us from Spalding. There was a lot to chose from obviously, but within an hour or so we settled on Chatteris as the crime rate looked low, looked promising as a hub to explore the Fenlands and its natural beauty of bird spots.
