"We made a reservation early, but despite the restaurant being almost empty, the service was still slow, although charming. In a hurry for lunch, we opted for sandwiches - my friend ordered a steak sandwich for £10 and I chose a club sandwich for £11. Both were served on thick slices of sourdough bread, making it difficult to cut. My club sandwich was supposed to have chicken, egg, salad, and bacon but instead had cold egg, ham (not bacon), and limp salad, resulting in a tasteless and unexciting meal. My friend's sandwich also lacked flavor, with cold steak and sourdough bread. The only saving grace was that the chips were good. We had enjoyed good meals during previous visits and liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, so it was disappointing to have such underwhelming food this time."

Friendly helpful service from experienced staff. The food options were good and the quality was excellent, very tasty and good portion sizes. We went for the Tarte Tatin for 2 for dessert and that was well worth the wait.

A lovely place to eat but perhaps asked for a table outside the main eating area because that can get quite noisy. The fish we had was perfectly cooked, the starters were sublime, nothing was over seasoned and all the flavours were subtle.

This restaurant is a lovely place to dine. I recommend requesting a table outside of the main dining area as it can get quite loud inside. The fish we ordered was cooked perfectly and the appetizers were sublime. Each dish had a perfect balance of flavors without anything being overpowering. View menu

This was my second visit and was a little disappointing after the first which was excellent. Service was slow, we had to ask for our side dish twice before it was brought to our table. The sandwiches were average, lacking filling and the side salad limp. The venue is beautiful and the concept great. I hope for better if I visit again.

We booked early and although the restaurant was almost empty the service though charming) was slow. As we wanted a quick lunch we ordered sandwiches -my friend had a steak sandwich £10) and I had a Club sandwich £11). Both were on thick-cut sourdough which was very hard to cut/bite through. My Club sandwich was described on the menu as 'chicken, egg, lettuce and bacon ' but the egg was scrambled and cold, no bacon but ham instead, and the lettuce was tired and limp, so it was tasteless and boring. My friend 's sandwich was equally underwhelming with cold steak and soggy sauerkraut. On the plus side, our chips were good! We 'd both had good food on previous visits, and really like the ambienc...

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
