"We recently stayed here for three nights on the way from Scotland to London. We wanted somewhere in a beautiful location, that was cosy, unfussy, with good food and beer/wine. This was it! From the minute we arrived to the moment we left we were looked after so well. Kimberley and Allan (and the team) are incredibly friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, with a variety of locally sourced options on the evening menu, and breakfast was everything you could ever want. The room was very comfortable and warm, tastefully decorated, and the underfloor heating in the bathroom a particular treat. The pub had a lovely villagey buzz to it. Three nights wasn't enough!"

Very friendly and buzzing pub owned by the community and run by Allan , Kimberley and their lovely helpers with professional ease . The rooms are modern and very comfortable no chintz in sight ! and the food great 'pubfood ' with very very good puddings . Nothing too much trouble either for us or our four legged friends

Just popped in for a pint after walking Great Whernside. What a delightful pub! The publican and her husband were very friendly and the atmosphere was most welcoming and although an old building also felt light and airy. We didn’t have food but we over heard some pleasant murmurings so to speak. Look forward to returning.

This is a lovely community pub, it offers bed and breakfast acommadation. We had our dog with us and they are very dog friendly. Good place to stay for visiting Layburn, Grassingdon and Kettlewell. Very friendly locals, good breakfast, tea coffee Biscuits fresh milk in the room. Made to feel very welcome, nothing would have been a bother for them. Thank for an enjoyable stay.

From the moment we called, early in the morning, to see if we could check in early (to get ready for a wedding), to the moment we checked out the next day, we felt welcomed and at home. The landlord was kind, friendly and couldn’t do enough for us really glad we chose to stay here. It was easy walking distance from Carlton Towers where our friends were getting married. The rooms were clean and tidy and breakfast was good. Would highly recommend to stay here.

Christmas dinner was nice, starter was wasn't up to much.... greeted by the lovely owner but the whole thing was let down by the totally abysmal service by a woman who clearly did not want to be working on Christmas Day! Waited over an hour for any starter to arrive! The food took so long that the people booked at our table for the next sitting were waiting nearly an hour by the side of us for us to finish!wont be booking here for next year! We were really looking forward to this looking at the reviews but sadly let down:

I stayed here overnight during the flooding . I have to say it was amazing to get the balance of a fantastic community pub that serves excellent food at a good price , and has great accommodation as well!.Down to the little touches such as cookies in a jar in the bedrooms and underfloor heating in the shower the accomodation was first class On the morning we arrived the pub had begun to flood but all the locals had mucked in to keep their beloved pub safe, and I can see why, the bar had a lovely friendly atmosphere , This is a definite gem in a beautiful location and I hope to return soon

We ate here three times recently. The atmosphere is very friendly and the food is good. However on the third occasion, despite booking a table, we waited 90 minutes for our food. The pub was very busy, but they seemed to have taken more orders than they could cope with. There was no explanation offered for the delay, which would have helped. After we had complained, they waived the price of our meals in recognition of the delay, so fair play to them. Despite providing side plates, bread was only offered on one of the evenings. What are the side plates for?So while we would recommend this pub, they need to sharpen up a little.

A proper Yorkshire welcome was the name of the day. Stayed here for two nights due to attending a wedding at Carltontowers. Really lovely Gang that Jimmy has there and so helpful. Room is just what you need and we were in room1. As a gay couple it has to be said that we are a bit mindful when in smaller country places but the staff and the local folks could not have been more friendly. The foresters arms definitely deserves any pink pound award as far as we are concerned. Breakfast was a good old fry up and filling on both mornings. My partner and I would definitely stay here again.Thank you Jimmy and gang for the welcome and hard work.Regards.Count Von'Craven.

"we wanted to visit the midlands and family for the first time since Christmas and in the frame of the visit I decided that we would take my mother for a nice Sunday dinner. she lives in telford and I am not familiar with the contrary so that I am on tripadvisor for ideas. I mean, I was looking for restaurants in Telford and sorted by rating; clays of broseley was the best from the list and that was what I booked. it is about a minute drive from my mother place through a beautiful shropshire landscape. we arrived in broseley a little early and found a parking space right in front of the restaurant. we were invited to take place on the terrace while they opened and had some drinks. I had a fantastic homemade limonade with glittering water, my mother had a Rhabarb juice that was so delicious that we were strolling home with us and my wife had a very nice pot tee. we had booked a table that had been placed in the restaurant for us, but we were offered the table on the terrace for lunch, which we liked to accept as the weather was perfect. we all ordered from the midday card, which for two courses and for three courses was a fantastic bargain. I ordered salmon and hake meatcakes with delicate brokolli, spargas and a white wine sauce and my wife and mother both ordered the beef Sirloin roast dinner. I was so impressed with eating. honestly, this restaurant lives up to all reviews. the ingredients were fresh and tasty and not refined as they get some places. to dessert my mother and I both had the rhubarb and custard' and playful plate that rhubarb compott, gelee, vanilla cream and small mygues combined crazy. the perfect end for every afternoon. during the meal were the employees (I'm sorry to say that I didn't get their names) attentive and friendly. our month old sohn, henry, has a stinking cold and has teethed, so was not on his best behavior, but the staff was fantastic with him. They even went so far that they broke out one of their dogs, a beautiful, huge dog called barney, for henry's entertainment. to cover everything, and this is great for parents of small children, they had a full baby change unit, complete with diapers, wipes and unhappy bags! I can honestly say I've never seen this before. all in all, for three nets, two desserts and drinks, the bill came less than unnecessary to say, I intend to visit again when we are close. I really can't wait."
