"we wanted to visit the midlands and family for the first time since Christmas and in the frame of the visit I decided that we would take my mother for a nice Sunday dinner. she lives in telford and I am not familiar with the contrary so that I am on tripadvisor for ideas. I mean, I was looking for restaurants in Telford and sorted by rating; clays of broseley was the best from the list and that was what I booked. it is about a minute drive from my mother place through a beautiful shropshire landscape. we arrived in broseley a little early and found a parking space right in front of the restaurant. we were invited to take place on the terrace while they opened and had some drinks. I had a fantastic homemade limonade with glittering water, my mother had a Rhabarb juice that was so delicious that we were strolling home with us and my wife had a very nice pot tee. we had booked a table that had been placed in the restaurant for us, but we were offered the table on the terrace for lunch, which we liked to accept as the weather was perfect. we all ordered from the midday card, which for two courses and for three courses was a fantastic bargain. I ordered salmon and hake meatcakes with delicate brokolli, spargas and a white wine sauce and my wife and mother both ordered the beef Sirloin roast dinner. I was so impressed with eating. honestly, this restaurant lives up to all reviews. the ingredients were fresh and tasty and not refined as they get some places. to dessert my mother and I both had the rhubarb and custard' and playful plate that rhubarb compott, gelee, vanilla cream and small mygues combined crazy. the perfect end for every afternoon. during the meal were the employees (I'm sorry to say that I didn't get their names) attentive and friendly. our month old sohn, henry, has a stinking cold and has teethed, so was not on his best behavior, but the staff was fantastic with him. They even went so far that they broke out one of their dogs, a beautiful, huge dog called barney, for henry's entertainment. to cover everything, and this is great for parents of small children, they had a full baby change unit, complete with diapers, wipes and unhappy bags! I can honestly say I've never seen this before. all in all, for three nets, two desserts and drinks, the bill came less than unnecessary to say, I intend to visit again when we are close. I really can't wait."

I have just had the best experience at this beautiful little restaurant, with my other half and our teenagers. The food was amazing and the service was top notch. I can't wait to go back. Highly recommend clays of Brosley.

Three of us were here for a family birthday and Clay's was once again a perfect choice. Wonderful food with all those special touches like walnut bread, freshly baked in-house. Great service from the lovely Trudy and her assistant in front of house. Clay's is...a gem, always delivers. Wonderful food, great value for the quality and a friendly relaxed welcome for all.

The atmosphere at the restaurant was lovely and the staff were attentive. However, the Sunday lunch experience was disappointing. Priced at £30 for a 3-course meal, the beef was overcooked and tough, making it difficult to eat. The portion size of the roast potatoes and vegetables was small. The chocolate and raspberry cake was dry and would have been improved with some pouring cream. View menu

Family run restaurant with the food at it's heart. The menu is small and changes regularly, the two of us having three courses and six different dishes. All the flavours were balanced and memorable who thought risotto could be exciting and a cauliflower soup...clearly made in food heaven! The dinner was an investment and even the house wine complemented the courses. Clays use a special ingredient passion!

we sat down, the restaurant is nice and cozy and contemporary. the staff was very friendly and friendly. they had no children's menu, but were able to make everything they wanted in a small part of the menu that was ideal. the wine list is extensive. I really couldn't owe it. it was stunning, we had crostini starters, a steak (a bark and a venison) for pornstars and their famous white chocolate cheesecake dessert. the steaks were cooked to perfection, they were absolutely beautiful. the sauce was so delicious. the starter was super delicious and so was dessert (which was a massive portion mmmmm). there is not even the smallest thing that makes it up, everything was perfect

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
