"Visited for a lunchtime drink and food on Sat 8th July. The draught beer my husband selected was not available and the barmaid struggled to pull a decent pint of his other choice so he had to resort to lager. Placed our lunch order for 3 people and was warned there would be a delay as another table of 4 had just placed an order. The pub was quiet with no other diners and only a couple of solitary drinkers so we we were surprised that our order took 45 mins to arrive. Interestingly the other table of 4 had eaten and left before our food arrived. When it did finally arrive it was disappointing to say the least. Stale bun on fish finger sandwich and beer batter on the fish and chip order was claggy rather that light and fluffy and not good quality fish. Chicken burger was equally mediocre. Not a good value meal at £55 for 3 inc the lager and 2 diet cokes. Was not asked if everything was ok so gave feedback on paying which they thanked me for. Let’s hope they take it on board so no-one else has a similar experience. Would recommend that they reduce the menu offer as far too much choice and concentrate on less options but of a better quality."

Sound staff- good lads and lassies. Clientele is maybe a wee bit hipster or wannabe hipster but harmless. Good pub. Would revisit.

What kind of pub has a 10 pound minimum spend at the bar? Shocking kitchen service, food was awful and I've had the runs for the past 6 hours since I ate here. KITCHEN IS COMPRISED, FLIES ON THE WALLS ETC

Great Sunday lunch. Moved son into to university digs around the corner. Went to Sunday lunch there. We all had the roast beef Sunday lunch each at fourteen quid a pop. Massive and delicious. Well worth every penny.

Eve was the best server and bartender we have ever encountered. She not only listened to my Dad's life problems, but also provided excellent service at the bar. Eve ensured that our drinks were served promptly and we will definitely be coming back to this establishment. View menu

Up in Burley area of Leeds for a few days. Popped in yesterday for a couple of beers, popped back in today for..... You've guessed it a couple of beers. The decor is nice, relaxing and not in your face. The beer, coming from London, was a decent pint and price. The young lady behind the bar both days was welcoming, friendly, intelligent and helpful. Will pop in again if in the area

A small pub offering a range of drinks and simple but tasty food. Staff were very friendly, made me feel very welcome. Service was efficient and polite. A friendly crowd was in for the weekly quiz. My first time in this part of Leeds (on business trip for 2 days), I enjoyed the evening, the quiz was fun. I imagine the pub might be quiet some of the time, so it was a pleasant evening among some folk who were out to enjoy themselves sensibly. I will return to the Fox and Newt next time I am in the area.

This Sunday roast was the worst I have ever had. The "giant" Yorkshire pudding, which cost an extra £2, was small and caused the portion of food to be even smaller as they tried to cram the entire roast inside it. The roast potatoes were new potatoes, the mash was watery and lumpy, the beef and turkey were dry, the red cabbage was overly sweet, and the Yorkshire pudding was burnt on top and raw on the bottom. I usually don't write reviews, but after paying £17 for a meal that I could have made better myself, I feel compelled to warn others not to bother visiting this restaurant. View menu

I visited the Fox and Newt last Thursday for a late dinner as it was just up the road from our hotel. There weren't any tables but the assistant manager moved her things off a table so we could sit. The kitchen was about to close but they were happy to accept our last minute order. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was great, very reasonably priced, and all the staff were so friendly. They and the locals were great fun and we ended up having a boogie all together to songs on Spotify! My husband and I, along with my in-laws, had a brilliant fun night and we came back on the Friday after the cricket. Again the food was top notch and atmosphere was great! Highlights were the crocodile burg...

I discovered the FandN about a year ago while on a business trip alone. On my first night, I stopped by the pub for a quick bite and a drink, but it was quite empty as it was a Monday night. I ventured to a couple of other pubs in the area, only to find them deserted as well. Despite the quiet atmosphere, I enjoyed a pleasant meal and decided to return for a second night. To my surprise, every table was reserved and the manager kindly found me a seat. It turned out to be quiz night on Tuesdays, and the manager was also the quizmaster. I struck up a conversation with her and met some friendly locals. I had such a great time that I now make it a point to visit on Tuesday nights when I am in th...
