"We recently visited The Goil Inn restaurant whilst on a short break to Lochgoilhead. It was a short 10 minute walk from the nearby holiday park we were staying at. Beautiful location with lovely views. There were 4 of us and we had lunch there 2 days in a row. On arrival we were greeted by the very welcoming staff, our server was Ian on both days and he was very attentive and service was second to none. Between us we ordered 2 haggis bon bons and soup, followed by the pie of the day (which was lamb and veg) x 2 with chips and veg, steak ciabatta and chicken bacon ranch ciabatta both served with crisps but we ordered fries with it as well. A side of pigs in blankets, and 2 of us then had the vanilla cheesecake for dessert and 3/4 rounds of drinks. The portions were very generous. The next day we went down for the Sunday roast which was a choice of beef or gammon, served with a yorkshire pudding, veg and potatoes. The quality of the food on both days was very high and cooked to perfection. Would recommend the Goil Inn restaurant to anyone coming to the area as you will not be disappointed."

This pub is nice, but they do not serve food during the winter months. The locals can make you feel unwelcome and there is a noticeable smell of wet dogs.

We had two very flavoursome and well presented meals. Service was great, with staff who were very welcoming, attentive and helpful. We will definitely be back.

Such a lovely inn, with great food, and a warm welcome. We really enjoyed sitting by the window, enjoying the view over the loch. It’s a real gem in a reasonable remote part of Scotland, highly recommended.

Megan at the bar was very gracious and helped make our last night in Scotland unforgettable! We initially stopped in for a few drinks, but ended up staying for a fantastic pub dinner. We will definitely return next time we are in the area. View menu

We turned up pretty late (19:45) after a day out in the mountains ravenous and with a thirst for beer. The Goil Inn were so friendly and welcoming and the food and beer was great! The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Highly recommended!

Such a cosy and friendly pub , lovely food , Agatha and Chris were both great , it’s the only pub in the village so I suppose they don’t really need to make a big deal and welcome to tourists but they do , we will definitely be back , plus the fact that it is dog friendly is an added bonus x

Visited here today with the family.. the food was excellent. I had the Cullen skink which in all honesty was the best one I've ever had.. the service was great and we were served by Paul who was working his first day. The only regret was that I didn't have any change to leave him a tip.... if I ever return I'll square you up paul View menu

Lovely little village pub which looks like it serves great food. It wasn't open the days of the week we were there for food sadly otherwise we would of tried it. We were just out of season! Staff were very friendly and accommodating . Facilities were clean. Its in a lovely spot to sit in the sun with a couple of drinks and a breath taking view! Would definitely recommend trying this hidden gem out!

We received a warm welcome at this restaurant tonight, despite being thirty minutes late due to a delayed ferry from Islay. Paul, our waiter, was friendly and efficient, seating us promptly with menus and drinks. We quickly made our choices as the kitchen was about to close. We shared a starter of scallops which were delicious, fresh, and perfectly cooked. For our main course, we both had the lamb pie which had a delicious lamb filling and a crispy puff pastry top. The vegetables were also great. We shared a Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert which was also very good. After a stressful drive from the ferry terminal to make it in time for the last food service, this was a fantastic experience....

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
