"Finishing off a week in the area, dining at this restaurant was a delightful experience. The service was exceptional and the food was equally impressive. Located at the head of the loch, the setting is absolutely stunning. Make sure to book ahead to avoid any possible disappointment."

We had a lovely couple of home cooked meals. Currently serving Wed-Sunday. Definitely book in advance as we couldn't get in the first time. The staff are really welcoming too and the food lovely.

We had booked in here for a big birthday celebration lunch and were really looking forward to it. It was a lovely day so hoped to sit outside. Apparently they don’t do food outside??? So we went inside as we had booked a table. We... View menu

Lovely bar area, open fire, cosy atmosphere, friendly staff and good food at reasonable prices. We will definately go back while on our trip. Nachos and onion rings were great, huge portion and shared by 2. Coffee was a wee work of art.

We've visited the Goil Inn often but since Lesleyanne took over as manageress the whole atmosphere of the place is brilliant. The team are so welcoming, all really great at their jobs, nothing is too much trouble. The bar is really cosy and dog friendly...

Tried to book before venturing to Lochgoilhead from near Glasgow, but issues with the phone line were queried when I contacted Drimsynie Reception to enquire (all part of Argyll Holiday group now). As it was, there was space aplenty in the pub at the time... View menu

Arrived for lunch on a quiet weekday. Very rude welcome and barmaid mumbled something about finding a seat. No indication of how the food ordering process worked. She was wearing a face mask round her chin which is not a very hygienic or professional look...

Popped in for a light lunch after walking along the Loch. Friendly service, covid secure. We had sandwiches which also came with salad and crisps, we ordered a soup and fries to accompany the sandwiches, but they really weren’t need as the portions were good.

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"

"We booked this restaurant after reading the reviews while touring Scotland what a disappointment. When we arrived we were shown to a table straight behind the door and as it kept opening and shutting it blew a massive amount of cold air in. As both parents and staff allowed 2 young children to go in and out every few minutes it got a bit much. We were given the menu and told specials were on the board. No description or recommendation. Also they did not say the board also goes over the top of the fish on didplay. I had crab claws to start the mayonnaise was lovely and what I could get out of the claws was nice but I was given no instruments to get into the claws and they were not broken enough for them to just pull out. I ordered the turbut for main as did my husband it was a small fillet with the skin correctly removed but it was loaded with garlic butter sauce you couldn't taste the fish for the garlic. Also which was worse I don't know what they did to the top of it but it was yellow and like thin rubber. We had to peel it off it was not good. I didn't complain at the time because I am not used to having a fillet of turbut. When I have had it before my husband and I have shared a turbut presented whole at the table. I have only written this today after speaking to some friends who said i should put something on because there had to be something wrong for the top of the fish to be yellow and leathery. You might guess but I won't be going back."
