8 family members had a lunch here Sunday. we had mixed grill. steak, southern fried chicken etc really nice great value with drinks . It wasn't that busy for a Sunday. Garden was lovely to sit in

visit many paintings here, can very busy lunchtime and weekend. but service and eating were always good. drinks at a reasonable price. they even have hotel rooms here. I'll have to make a weekend visit.

It’s a Wetherspoons, you get what you pay for. The queuing system at the bar is a bit weird, but we have never had a bad drink or meal here. The staff are lovely, a lady called Sammy particularly, she’s so nice and friendly!

The staff at the restaurant discriminated against my partner and me, refusing to serve us drinks within 5 minutes of our arrival because they claimed we were too drunk. Meanwhile, everyone else in the establishment seemed to be heavily intoxicated and engaging in drug use. The staff was unfriendly, aggressive, and rude. We had only come in for a couple of drinks before heading home, and were very disappointed with the service. We will not be returning to this establishment.

The outdoor seating area is plagued by pesky pigeons who snatch food from unattended plates and create a potential health hazard. The young staff members are polite but slow in clearing and cleaning tables, leading to unhygienic conditions. The indoor tables are also dirty and unwiped. The food quality is standard for a chain restaurant, and the service meets the target times despite being busy. However, if you are particular about cleanliness and hygiene, you may not be satisfied with the overall experience.

My husband I stayed at The Golden Lion on 26th June for 2 days, we checked out today and we have only good positive views on it there was absolutely nothing negative about our stay. The staff were friendly thank you Shelden, Sherry and Nathan and all the other staff we didn’t get their names but were all very friendly and professional. The room was clean and spacious, the shower was a good pressure, and the food was delicious 5 all the way, best Wetherspoons we have stayed in. finally realized that the wetherspoons uk chains pub a separate vegan vegetarian menu. I am at the moment on a diet and what is great about the menu it is also listing calorie information. eating was really cheap, I didn't have the PETA price excellent vegan curry, as the calorie count was higher than I allowed it, but I'll go back definitiw and try another time. I had the 5 drill chili and my partner went for the naked burrito with a side of chips. they cost us £14.00 with drinks his non-fancy vegan eating, his good pub grub and really good value for money and I will be back soon. also there are wetherspoons restaurants in very Great Britain with the same menu, so its safe bet thumbs up! up...

Don’t believe everything you read on here, the staff were brilliant and the service for breakfast was excellent. We knew it was likely to be quite a ‘lively’ place to stay while going to a wedding at the cathedral and frankly wondered if we had made a mistake when reading the awful reviews about staff/service. The staff/service couldn’t have been nicer, we only had breakfast and it was very good (and very cheap). First night we had a room on first floor and to be frank it wasn’t great right over the bar that is open until 1am.
