"Not a great experience. The building itself is a charming oldie worldie structure, but it feels tired and like it needs some TLC. We booked food for 7.15pm. It is pretty expensive and the menu is limited. Cheapest bottle of wine was c.£26 (remember it is a pub at the end of the day). We eventually got served our food over an hour later. They did explain they had a big party in and as a result, a fair amount of the menu had sold out (including what we both wanted). They did automatically discount the bill, which is fair enough. The customer service was mixed. It was ok in the evening. However, at breakfast the young lad was pleasant enough. The lady, however, barely spoke to us, let alone a ‘good morning’. No explanation of breakfast or where anything was. You order your hot food the night before, but there is a table set out for cereal and juice etc. in the adjacent room. However, unless you’re informed, you wouldn’t know. We took our lead from others in the room and eventually found the set up. No bread or juice had been restocked, so I had to ask the lady. No response or polite acknowledgment given whatsoever, although she did refill it I guess, so a win there. My feelings started with not wanting to bother them too much, to then becoming more irritated with the complete lack of acknowledgement or politeness. Anyone would think they were doing me a favour. The room was pretty standard. However, there was an intermittent loud raking type noise throughout the night. No idea what it was but it was horrible, resulting in a disturbed night sleep. Won’t be back."

Fantastic every time. Food is great and there is always a great selection of drinks available. Bar service can be a bit slow at times, but that fits in with the village charm.
