"I had a reservation for a table with friends on a Saturday night at The Heifer. Despite the chaos of the 'Scorton Feast' happening outside, we had a peaceful and enjoyable time with delicious food and attentive service. For my meal, I started with scallops and chorizo followed by an amazing burger for my main course. My friends ordered more exotic-sounding dishes, which all arrived promptly and were the envy of the table. The food was so flavorful that I left feeling like I hadn't eaten that well in a long time. If you're looking for superb food in the Richmond area, The Heifer is a must-try."

Excellent food in beautiful location. Would love to go back but live 400 miles away. Easy to get to from A1. Better than stopping at services if you have time.

Sunday lunch at The Heifer. Long time since we've ventured out for Sunday lunch and so glad our research paid off. Food excellent, staff accommodating and friendly. Made for great experience.

Had a lovely afternoon, called in for a quick refreshment, saw the food and decided to stay for lunch and a few more drinks in the sunshine. Great hospitality from the owners, made to be felt really welcome. Food delicious and we will return. Andrea and the girls from Kiplin Lodges. Thank you so much. View menu

We had a wonderful Sunday lunch with our family and dog at this restaurant. The staff made us feel very welcome and provided great service throughout the meal. The bar area had a cozy atmosphere and we were highly impressed with the high quality of the food. The desserts were also tasty. We will definitely be returning to The Heifer pub in the future.

We have dined here once before I think last summer, called today and sadly had to leave as I couldn’t face ordering and eating a meal in my coat, I actually zipped up my coat when we went inside, the whole place was absolutely empty and Baltic freezing, tip.. turn on your heating and you could get customers huge shame as our food was beautiful last time we ate there

Called in on a Saturday evening and booked a dog friendly table in the bar. Unfortunately, we'd picked a super busy evening. The waitress said it wasn't normally that busy and kindly moved us into a quiet corner of the restaurant as the dogs were getting a bit nervous. The food is amazing, the best cheese souffle I've ever tasted, and I wasn't disappointed by the chicken parmo either. We didn't stay for pudding but would call back in for lunch if we're back in the area. View menu

Had a beautiful family lunch here. Everyone enjoyed their food from 2 years old to 75 years old. The quality of the food was incredible. The scallops I had were amazing and my wife said the same about her croquettes. I usually choose my meals based on which meat I fancy but decided to go for the roasted vegetables tagine and I was not disappointed. It was really tasty and all of the flavours worked really well together. It was our first visit but we will 100% be back soon.

The food at the restaurant was delicious and had a great taste, however, in my opinion, it was quite expensive. The welcome we received was not particularly warm, as we were not expected and the lady seemed unsure if she could accommodate us without a reservation. Eventually, she was able to fit us in but insisted we order quickly before the next table arrived. Despite knowing what we wanted, she took 15 minutes to come back and take our order, which made the experience a bit awkward. While we did enjoy our meal, I felt that the bill for the four of us was too high for what we received.

"We had booked with booking.com . On arrival we were told that we didn't get breakfast included and that it would be £15 a head. We accepted this although thought was pretty steep for breakfast in a pub.The first morning we were given a menu clearly stating that breakfasts were included with all accommodation. I ordered poached eggs with smoked salmon and the other two ordered a full English breakfast which included homemade black pudding. The breakfasts arrived ,one of my poached eggs was runny, the other hard. The English breakfasts had no black pudding on the plates and when queried we were told that the deliveries hadn't arrived. Doesn't homemade imply made on or near the premises and as the owner states he is a butcher by trade I would expect he had made the black pudding. No alternatives were offered and presentation was distinctly lacking , with the baked beans poured over the other items. The next day I risked the full breakfast with black pudding which was lovely. But again the others had badly cooked poached eggs. We were offered no fruit juice, cereal or even toast and marmalade. On leaving we discovered the pub was unmanned , despite poor mobile signal. The owner turned up after 15 minutes. The bill was handed over, charging us for seven breakfasts when we had six, it was adjusted after he asked if one of us had had two breakfast one day? He served and cooked them so should know the answer to that. We were also then overcharged for nine coffee when three coffees and two teas had been ordered. Having had a family B and small hotel in York I advised him that standards were not what I was used to. I spoke to someone who had also visited recently and she stated a member of staff had charged them £15 per head for their similar breakfast where we were charged the menu price. Exceptionally poor menu, inaccurate advise saying breakfast included then charging us and probably the worst breakfast I have eaten in similar accommodation."
