"That was it. I returned for a second visit, this time for dinner. The local patrons were welcoming, just like the cozy fire and the friendly dog. The staff was attentive but maintained a professional distance. Everything was delicious. I began with a Yorkshire blue cheese salad with pears and walnuts, followed by the crooked chicken in mushroom sauce, which was paired with the most amazing fondant potatoes and delightful wild garlic. For dessert, I enjoyed a rhubarb cheesecake served in a glass, along with a very good tea. The long journey was definitely worth it. Thank you to everyone involved!"

we visited during the lunchtime in bank holiday Monday were the staff welcoming and friendly and eating was amazing that we cooked the ham hock special and bubbly boiled in ingwer bier for pornstars and the rhubarb cheesecake and yorkshire pudding with skyberry and white chocolate sauce for puddings, highly recommended and we will soon visit again

Nestled deep within a stunning forest landscape, this wonderfully pristine pub offers an excellent dining experience featuring locally sourced products, particularly game. Despite its exceptional food, it maintains the charm of a true countryside establishment. The four ales on tap, recommended by the Good Beer Guide 2017, were all outstanding, though I would have appreciated a bit more variety in styles, as they were all pale ales. Definitely worth a visit!

"We arrived and walked into the pub.. there wasn't any sort of reception area.. the lady serving showed us our room. The room smelt damp.we went out for dinner said we would be back 10ish pm, we got back at 10.08pm. It was raining. We tried to get in everywhere was locked up.. we were getting wet and cold, we honked the car horn and rang the door bell.. nothing, so we phoned the property. No one answered it went to an answer machine,we sat back in the car , we were soaked and stuck outside..no way to get in.. Eventually a man walked from the bottom field and asked if we were the residents stuck outside? Apparently his manager had rang him to go have a look, he made it clear to us that he wasn't suppose to be working till Monday but he has had to come up to let us in... he let us in and locked up and off he went. My brother realised then he had left his phone in the car so went to get it but we were locked in. The fact that we were now locked in was very concerning as to fire and safety regulations, hoe would you get out in the situation.. but anyway atleast we were indoors and vould go to bed albeit that the room smelt so strongly of damp, but we had no choice, we were out in the middle of nowhere , which we thought would be a nice place to stay, but unfortunately not.... we had 3 flights of stairs to our room..a damp room, and no access after 10pm although we had said what time we were returning..we would have eaten there if the meals had been reasonably priced. Really not the best place to stay.."
