"As it was a lovely night my friend and I decided to go somewhere near the sea for a meal.We walked from Seaburn to Mamma Mia's above The Jolly Sailor in Whitburn Village. We arrived for Happy Hour.I hadn't been before but it had been recommended by a friend.I certainly was not disappointed ! We shared cheese garlic bread (full pizza size) and each had a chicken dish with prawns and mushrooms in a seafood sauce with lovely home cooked chips and vegetables. The portions were quite generous in fact we both left some chicken ! We shared a bottle of house red.The bill was £33.05 really good value. The venue is quite small and old fashioned. The staff are friendly and polite. We even met the cook when we were leaving she was really nice.I can't wait to take my partner."

After a good walk along to South Shields we were in need of a real ale drink and something good to eat.

Visited here many times with family and friends. Very traditional and made very welcome. Great on a cold day as cosy inside but when the suns out, lovely to sit outside and have a drink in the sun. We go here often to meet up with friends as very relaxing.

You two guys have shown such hospitality over the recent years we have visited your friendly and homely pub! This particular visit (from Australia was sadly punctuated by the need to bury my lovely sister wee Val (Valerie Mason a much loved and long time resident of your village. Your compassion and genuine love for my sister was evident and your comments shared with me and my wife were truly comforting and are treasured Also please note we enjoyed the wee bottle of Scottish medicine you instructed us to consume upon our safe return to Australia! Bless you guys Arthur and Jenny Gooch
