"Today, we went to the pub and encountered a disagreement with a 'regular' customer who was upset that we were saving a seat for our friend who was on their way. The customer felt entitled to extra seating ahead of us, who he referred to as visitors. Additionally, despite our dog sitting on our coat, we were not allowed to have our dog sit on the worn out seats. Overall, the pub was quite unkempt and it seemed like the 'regulars' were more valued than newcomers like us. We have no plans to return as pubs run in such a manner do not welcome new customers and may struggle in the long term."

Vic and his brother Charlie are normally behind the bar. 2 really nice characters who run a good country style pub with excellent beer. I havent tried the food but I am going to. Dogs welcome in the bar or on the outside seating.

We visited The Jolly for the second Sunday in a row and once again, my wife and I were very impressed. The pub has a historic charm and a wonderful atmosphere. The Sunday lunch was exactly what we were looking for - plentiful, beautifully cooked, and served with great service, all at a very reasonable price.

Today, my family of 7 enjoyed Sunday lunch at this restaurant. The food was consistently amazing, the real ale was fabulous, and the pricing was great considering the amount and quality of the meal. There were plenty of vegetables, tasty gravy, and parking options available on the street or in the nearby park car park. View menu

You two guys have shown such hospitality over the recent years we have visited your friendly and homely pub! This particular visit (from Australia was sadly punctuated by the need to bury my lovely sister wee Val (Valerie Mason a much loved and long time resident of your village. Your compassion and genuine love for my sister was evident and your comments shared with me and my wife were truly comforting and are treasured Also please note we enjoyed the wee bottle of Scottish medicine you instructed us to consume upon our safe return to Australia! Bless you guys Arthur and Jenny Gooch

On Friday last, I went into the Jolly Sailor, at 1pm and asked if they could accomodate 8 for lunch, as we had been to a funeral. Without hesitation, the management said yes, but could we wait about five minutes to give them time to set the table up. True to their word, this was done, and then followed a meal which was a delight. Mince and dumpling, liver and onions, fish and chips were the order of the day, and all of the party enjoyed their particular order. With drinks, and there were a few, the whole bill came to less than £100, andwe all considered that it really was good value.
