"We stopped at this restaurant for lunch during a 30 mile bike ride. The menu was very creative and imaginative, with fresh ingredients. We both had chorizo and feta on sourdough with a delicious salad. The small cans of drinks were all priced at £2.50. The service was very friendly. It was a hot day, but unfortunately there wasn't enough shade over the outside seating to be able to sit in the garden area. The big sun canopies were a nice idea, but they only accommodated one table. I guess it hasn't been needed much this summer until now. We would definitely return."

"I don't know what on earth happened last night when we had dinner here, the reviews looked good, and we're struggling to understand how. We're very easily pleased and takes a lot to prompt a complaint, but we had an absolutely awful experience. My partner ordered the belly pork off the specials board, and it turned up on a side plate, a very few overcooked bits of diced pork thrown in with a few veg. I had the cauliflower with braised lentils, this turned out to be a few mainly burnt cauliflower florets thrown into a plate of sludgy lentils. The chunky chips we ordered came out as skinny fries, not a big deal but just added to the general lack of care. We were both mortified, to the point of embarrassment. We ate it as we were hungry and there was nowhere else to go as we were staying at a local campsite. One of the team took the plates away, and another brought the bill. Neither of them asked us how the meal was, else we'd have said how disappointed we were. So we just left, just as the table next to ours was commenting on the small portion sizes of their food. We should have complained but we were hungry, disappointed, tired and just wanted to leave and simply couldn't face the confrontation in the busy setting. No excuses but that's how it was. We are very relaxed easy going people but this was a truly disappointing meal and experience and we felt robbed of £45 instead of enjoying what we'd hoped would be a lovely Saturday night out and special occasion."

"Ambience (5/5): Feldon Valley The Lodge is really nice and modern with cosy common areas like the indoor fireplace in the lobby, the outdoor fireplaces on the terrace. Room (3.5/5): We booked the standard double room in the main building. We checked in to a room on the second floor (poplar section). The window in the room is as small as the photos on the booking website, so that was not a surprise. The view out of the window was mainly the tree outside the window, and not to the golf course. When it comes to the bathroom, the shower is much smaller than expected. Food (5/5): For breakfast – cold breakfast is laid out on a table, while hot breakfast is available on menu. I ordered pancakes with pork back bacon and maple syrup which was really good. For dinner – I ordered the pork tenderloin which was very good. The tenderloin was very juicy and tender, while the mash was paired with finely diced apples which gives it some acidity and a good contrast. The char on the vegetables added depth to the dish. Note: we went to Sainsbury’s to buy s’mores supplies with the hope that we could make s’mores over the fireplace on the outdoor patio. We were dismayed when the front desk informed us we were not allowed to make s’mores over the fireplace."

"Visited here today after a long walk in the countryside around Brailes. The staff were lovely and welcoming. We ordered various sandwiches which came with fries we chose sweet potato versions which were cooked to perfection. The sandwiches themselves were delicious containing loads of chicken which I presume was freshly cooked and very tasty. We all agreed they were some of the best we'd had in the many pubs we'd visited. Our order did take about half an hour but there were eight of us ordering a few different sandwiches and they were obviously freshly cooked to order. Would definitely recommend. Food drinks: Freshly cooked and very tasty toasted sandwiches. Service: 4 Location: 4 Hotel highlights: Great value"

"We have just come back from a wonderful night's stay, we had 3 rooms and all of our party were impressed with the standard of the rooms and the breakfast which had everything from fresh fruit, granola and a choice of cooked breakfasts.The location couldn't be better, we were right in the centre of Winchester In the stunning area by the cathedral.
